You are doing extremely well. Keep it up. You'll retire a millionaire a couple of times over.

Awesome. Congrats man. It's all about starting early and sticking with contributions. A nice match helps too.

As for age, it's more about where you finish and what your pace is for retirement age. There's been several rules of thumb posted for various milestones.

Reached 100k in my 401k . What's considered a good age to get there? I'm not quite 30, so I feel I'm doing okay.

I'm 26 and nowhere near 100k in my 401k but that is not my only savings vehicle...it is only 25% of my savings, actually.

I care more about net worth than a specific vehicle that got me there.

Duly noted, thanks

OP- Obama wants to tax any 401k savings plan in excess of $3,400,000. When will you hit that number?

Excellent that you already got there. I evaluate my personal financial situation in terms of net worth. Keep up the good work

Net worth is more than my 401k, but my wife's student loans put a dent in that. We'd be over 250k if it wasn't for that.

Its been said a thousand times here, but any student needs to be careful taking out loans. We are doing just fine, but we could be living the high life if it wasn't for them. We've been dropping almost 2k a month on that crap. Would be nice to have that sitting in investments right now.

Congrats to the OP, that is great.

I'm 29 and currently have about 50k. So when i'm 30 i won't be at 100k, but hopefully not long after that.

Lol. It seems like that would be almost impossible to get to 100k before you are 25. I should be at 100k by the end of next year. I'll be 31. I think I'm doing ok. I'm sure that's well ahead of the avg person.

I prefer using net worth and monthly passive income to measure where I am instead of just what I have currently in my 401k or Roth ira or my dividend paying stocks. Majority of my investing efforts go into RE.
