Why do you think the coin exchanges can get away with doing that?
Their justification is that, due to the difficulty tracing most crypto, they delay deposit in order to give a potential fraud victim time to contest.
Otherwise, the exchange is out of crypto as the thief will transfer the assets and victim contests the charge.
Accounts that have been around a long time have an instant transfer time from bank withdrawals.
New accounts have instant deposit if they use a credit card.

Eth is back to 1050. I'll feel a lot better if we break the 1100 wall and eat into the 1200, but this may not happen for a few days.

No problem. You're asking the same questions I did when I started getting into this.

You are ready to pounce on anything crypto related the moment you get a hint of some perceived negativity. But you continue to show you know nothing about the topic. It’s baffling. Why don’t you just take some time to research this stuff so you atleast have a leg to stand on when you come in here trashing it?

You're always so damn angry, dude.
Seriously...
Seriously...

I just re-read your explanation and maybe I don't understand the process. The other poster who has been waiting since 1/9 for his money to show up in his account hasn't bought a currency with it. It's coming from a commercial bank as, I assume, a wire transfer. That is collected funds, not like a check waiting to clear. No currency has been bought (yet) so there's no tracing needed to make sure the coin purchase transaction is valid.
You don't have to explain anything further. It just seemed to me the delay in a poster getting his money credited to his account doesn't have anything to do with waiting for a coin purchase to be validated.

You're correct. He isn't purchasing currency- it sounded more like a wire transfer.
The logic is likely the same, though- the website allows you to instantly purchase crypto if you have wired funds in your account.
So, the principle still applies.
eta: But I did agree with you earlier it's an annoying business practice.

Russian, I have linked the GDAX website for you to just research if you’d like. It’ll help you make a well informed opinion on the matter so you don’t have to take any of our words as gospel. Hope it helps LINK

A wire transfer is correct. I haven’t purchased anything yet. Checked the status and GDAX tells me 1/17 by 18:00. So, 8 days.

The link you posted was helpful. Thanks.
It says that ACH transfers may take between 7 & 10 calendar days but if a customer wants immediate access to incoming funds, even same day access, he needs to have his bank use a wire transfer and not ACH.
So if someone wants to expedite having access to his funds in his GDAX account just make sure his bank wires the funds and not use ACH transfer.
That makes a lot more sense than someone having to wait 7-10 calendar days for a wire transfer. It AIN'T a wire transfer. It's a ACH transfer. Big difference.

You'll have it by tomorrow. Bank transfers are always 7-10 business days. Cards are right away

Are you positive it was a wire transfer? The dates line up with ACH. If you are positive it was wire then I’d suggest you contact gdax.

Strong hands give yourself a strong pat on the back for weathering that storm. Looking a little more stable after a rebound.

yeah no shite. I'm not gonna lie, I got a little worried as that 17k eth wall between 820-870 started getting eaten.
I wasn't gonna sell but I was making peace with myself

That's bad advice. There is nothing ever wrong with taking profits. Everyone has a different level of what they are comfortable with.

A less risky way to gain 13% return in the matter of a few hours? Can you please point me in that direction?
