(because you can't transfer directly to Binance from Coinbase, I guess?)
You can, you will just have higher fees. If you determine that you don't mind, or its too complicated for now, just send it straight from CB to Binance.
On Binance, click the basic trading dropdown on the top left of the screen.
From there, go to the ETH/ICX tab on the right, then buy however much ICX that you want with the ETH balance you have.
Then you can leave it there and wait it out if you would like.

ETH turns into a lot of ICX. I hold ICX til after the summit and then see what it's worth? If it goes up, it should convert back to MORE ETH which is where I really want to be over the next year?
This market is extremely volatile. Some people don't mind telling you exactly where to put your money, because they don't care if you lose it all. Do your best to research as much as you can, or at least find people you can trust and go off of what they recommend. Good luck

Do you think these ETH walls here to stay? I'm waiting for it to drop below $1000 so I can get some more but it just keeps hovering in the mid 1000s.

I thought someone said there were higher fees doing it that way?
Also, I don't see a means to do this, at least not in Coinbase. Do I buy ETH in CB and then Binance will have me link my CB account there and transfer it in?

Yeah, I see the issue being if ETH goes way up over that period of time. Then I'm stuck in ICX.

It is higher fees but you can do it.
Buy your ETH on CB. Go to Binance click on deposit. Copy “address”. Go back to CB hit send. Paste “address”. That’s if you are going directly from CB to Binance.

How much are we talking here?

Not sure on that. I don’t use GDAX.

ALso, I didn't see it, but can you buy LTC and use it to buy ICX, then transfer back? I feel like the LTC may be less volatile, but I may be completely wrong on this, especially since most people seem to be "end-gaming" for ETH.

So you do it directly?

Yes
I prefer ETH on Binance. And you can’t pair LTC with ICX on Binance

USD <-> ETH/BTC on Coinbase or Gemini
ETH/BTC <-> Altcoins such as ICX on Binance
So a flowchart would look like
1000 USD from bank - > 1 ETH on coinbase, send to binance -> 100 ICX on binance - > [APPRECIATION] 2 ETH on binance, send to coinbase -> 3000 USD to bank
Note that Gemini has cheaper fees.

Noted. I don't see much said about it. Why do people seem to gravitate to Coinbase in spite of that fact?

Coinbase is an app and its easier

There have been events in cryptos past that cause pause for investors. Being a reliable name that has yet to frick your customers right in the arse has its perks.
Coinbase has been around a lot longer and people are more comfortable with it. You can't get "Mt. Gox'd" from them. The caveat is they dont frick you right in the arse, but they do play with the tip a bit.
Gemini has FDIC insurance for USD you store there, so theyre not too bad from that standpoint. I havent started using them exclusively yet, probably because I don't plan on putting more FIAT in for awhile.
The other difference is you cant use a credit card on Gemini.

I just diversified all my ETH into ICX, REQ, and VEN.
I have a sell order for half of my ven when it peaks before a sell wall that I will put into ICX. I expect that, if it is going to rise, it will sooner than VEN.

No there’s a lot of support at 1000 which is a positive sign. We are moving sideways and consolidating. I could show you tons of triangles but my hunch is once we break out past 1,100 it’s off to the races again.

I think I could be wrong the taker fee from CB is 1.49% and GDAX it’s 0.25%

ICX certainly seems to have more short term upside than VEN. VEN will break out soon but more long term. With the ICON summit and mainnet launch in the next two weeks ICX is going to blow up.

This is how I feel too. The next big resistance points on the graph are 1100 and 1500. That resistance point at 1500 is xbox hueg but it will probably break up into small fractions around 1400-1500 once ETH starts rising again.
