VIGAX is getting battered the past few weeks for me. Down over 10%. I’m continuing to buy but that’s a sharp decline for the month.

This thread is making me feel better. 28 here and my rollover 401k from a previous job had been doing incredibly well sitting in VTSAX for the past few years. It's dropping steady, down about 11% overall the last few weeks.

I've just about gotten to the point where I'm ready to start contributing again but was thinking about using one of Vanguard's target retirement accounts. Any suggestions with the current downturn?

It could happen. Or it could recover in the next couple of months on the back of strong fall earnings.

Or we could experience 1966-1982. Due to inflation and poor growth, for every one dollar you invested in the stock market, you had 85 cents after 15 years of investing in inflation adjusted terms. It has happened in the recent past and it can happen again. 1999-2010 the inflation adjusted return was -1.65%. When times have been really good, don't be surprised if returns go sideways for a decade, possibly two.

2008-09 doesn't seem so bad in light of 1966-82.

Set your plan, stick to the plan, ignore the noise of daily or annual stock market movements. Play the long game.

Ahhhh, and here’s the sticking point. How do you know when it’s there?

INTC is a steal. Don't listen to the AMD hype Intel is into much more than CPUs.
