Fine over here. Just started my last section, which is Quant. I'd been dreading it for 2 1/2 months, but its less statistic-oriented than I thought, so I'm happy about that.

Yeah I am about to start that up...I flipped through it and started feeling bad (I haven't had stats in like 3 years); so it's good to know that it's not too bad (still doesn't make it anymore interesting though)

The first 150 pages are straightforward. The second half of it gets nerdy though.

That being said, I noticed that quite a bit of the ethics was fairly common-sense stuff so I haven't been paying specific attention to which Article and section pertains to which ethical standard, but rather a more broad "what you can and can't do /should and shouldn't do" approach. Is this the right way to go about it, or are the focused on me learning specifically that section X article X says ______?
Good approach. The questions on the test are virtually identical to the questions in the book. Don't waste your time studying them until the day before, but devote the whole day before the test to reviewing them. You won't miss any.

Also, is the entire lvl 1 more geared to concepts (specifically econ & financial rpting) or is it more plug & chug with the calculator?
It varies from book to book, but on the whole, it's more concepts. Econ is almost all concepts, so just make flashcards.
My biggest suggestion is not to get bogged down in the small stuff. I did it and it made me waste a lot of time.

I am biased, but I feel like the MT board is the least retarded board on this site.

Just finished Quant off. Started ~Feb 1st, so it basically took me 3 months of Fridays and Saturdays (eta: to finish all L1 readings), although I probably skipped 3 or 4 due to other activities. The probability reading melted my brain, so boring and abstract. No CFA until after exams and my buddy's bachelor party, then 3 weeks of daily study using pirated materials.

You are going to rape the test.
I am interested to hear how you do on the mock exams.

I was actually going to ask you about that next.
What kind of scores did you get on the mocks? The Becker stuff for the CPA always threw me off, getting a 70% on the mocks ended up equaling out to a 90% on the real test.

I got in the upper 70's on both. They are pretty comparable to the real test. I think I did a little better on the actual test, but it's had to tell since you don't get your actual results back.

I'm a little concerned about the statistics stuff in quant. Thank god for ISDS, I would be completely lost on that part if I hadn't had to take 2000/2001/3115. Weakest material in L1 (as far as clear explanations) IMO.

I pretty much wrote that off as a loss and still scored in the middle tier on it.
Anything that is REALLY hard will not be on the test. Know how to calculate covariance, variance, median, etc. and you will be cool.
It's a mile wide and an inch deep.

Yeah, the basic statistical stuff, especially the stuff that goes along with other finance stuff (the things you just mentioned), I am cool on. Some of the probability questions that had me glazing over, and I really just flew through some of that material because I could not focus on it whatsoever. It is made more difficult because I know I personally have no practical use for it at that level of detail, all that stuff is pre-modeled already.

Fizz, you are going to have an aneurysm with the L2 quant.
I'm on the last section, but I resorted to drinking about two hours ago and now, 3 old fashioned's later, it's starting to make sense and I'm trying to scribble down notes to see if I can recapture the information tomorrow.
Reading 1- Everything from L1 condensed into one reading
Reading 2- Multiple regression analysis and suitability of coefficients
Reading 3- Time series analysis.
I'll be happy when I'm done with this and can move on to some cushy econ.

We actually did a ton of regression stuff in one of my classes this semester, not that that means I'm looking forward to it. Running regressions in excel and forming/analyzing meaningful relationships is one thing, learning the theory (which is about 70% of what we did) is mind numbing.

L2 had me doing that too.

FWIW I pad $40 and bought the Elan "11th Hr" review after browsing some on AF. They are definitely better than Schweser. Might be worthwhile for you to look in to getting the "Wildcard" package. Its the review and [I think] 2 practice tests. $99. Cheap as far as this shite goes.

You'll appreciate this. Just went through my second practice test. About midway through checking it (so like halfway through FRA), I'm at like 15%. I'm having an :ohshit: moment. Get through the whole thing with like 20% right. Sat there for a good two minutes just thinking, "there's no way I'm going to pass this fricking test, wtf is going on here" with a blank stare. Go back to start looking at the explanations. Wrong answer key. Boom...
