Niko makes saves that a wall would miss. Then he contorts & snags the rebounds. Guy is a beast.

I just realized we have three of the four teams represented on here. But I think we may have trouble finding a Loyola fan.

My neighbor growing up played for Loyola back in the day, I have a real soft spot for them. I'll root for them, but I'm not a Greyhound fan per se.

I'd definitely be supportive of Loyola winning, I just don't think it's going to happen for them this trip.

I'd like to see them win it all.

I though Maryland was too "up and down" to have the #2 seed or to beat Hopkins, but they jumped up 6-2 at the half and Hopkins never threatened. I think they are peaking, their goalie can make tough saves (enough) and they can beat Duke (revenge too over a loss this year). I think Loyola should be favored over ND. Loyola is a veteran team with only one loss all year and does not get stage fright. Then I pick Loyola to beat Maryland in the Title game...of course any of the 4 could win.
Lacrosse is a great sport and really good for kids. Constant movement/exercise with the development of eye-hand coordination and great teachings about strategy, spacing, executing plays, defense, etc. Amazing how similar to basketball and hockey the strategies/plays are.

Hometown rivalry, and they pretty handily beat Hop in the regular season. Now, I had Hop circled on my bracket as beating MD, but I also had "....?" next to that.

When we sat down to watch the game, Mrs. Baloo asked if the Terps had any chance of winning. I said I’d be happy if they lost by two goals or less. I did not see that absolute arse kicking coming. Maryland beat Duke earlier in the year as well, and Duke’s not as good as Hop (I thought the Jays were gonna win the title, going away). Then again, there’s no way the Terps play that well again. That was unreal.

Loyola over ND and Duke over Maryland
Loyola over Duke in a high scoring game.
Salisbury & Cortland in DIII will be a great game

new blood (Loyola)
maybe not so new, really.
Loyola (Md) was a finalist. 1990.
Maryland has won several and was a finalist many times.
Hopkins (also in Balt, like Loyola) won several and was a finalist many times.
Navy was a finalist.
Many years the two finalists were both from Maryland.
What's so 'new' about Loyola (Md) being in the final four?

Maryland last won it all in 1975.
That's a long time and having lost the finals a few times and lost in the semis many times doesn't make that title drought seem shorter to Maryland fans.
For perspective, Charley Mac was coaching LSU football, we were in the midst of a decade long losing streak to Bama, Terry Robiskie was the feature back, Dale Brown was in the early days of building the LSU hoops program, and Lefty was coaching at College Park.

Loyola last made the final weekend in 1998. I'm not sure if they've ever made the finals. Loyola is hardly a blueblood.

I agree about Loyola. JHU is the blueblood in the state.
Too bad the games aren't at M&T this year.

I hate Duke LAX although I do respect them. Going for Maryland in this one.

Over the past decade, UMBC has been a better program than Loyola. I'd place Loyola fifth in the Maryland school pecking order, and that's not counting Georgetown:
Hopkins
Maryland
Navy
UMBC
Loyola
Hopkins
Maryland
Navy
UMBC
Loyola

Did anyone read this article on the Tewaaraton? This looks like the weakest group in years. I can't believe Costabile, essentially a specialist (albeit an incredibly good specialist) is the favorite right now. And Stanwick didn't deserve to win it last year, imo. Pannell was better although he was extremely limited this year. If Baum from Colgate hadn't been shut down by the Duke defense last weekend, I think he would have been the favorite.

I'd kind of like Costabile to win it. It'd be like a d-lineman winning the Heisman. I think that'd be a good thing, rather than an attack/midfielder (quarterback/running back) winning like always.
But how bout a goalie winning it for once? How is Kemp not even on that list? It's arguably the most important position in the game, why is it never considered?

I hate Duke. But I loved last weekend when they just kept playing with high intensity and kept scoring. I hate when teams pull the reins in. I see them and Loyola in it, with Duke winning a shoot out.

Personally, I think it's CJ's Costabile's OT goal that's carrying his name to the Big T Award.
A little off the tourney topic but the Richie Meade hire at Furman is HUGE! So is that anonymous $5,000,000 donation to the lax program...

I can't stand Duke but I'll pull for the lacrosse team just because of the stripper scandal.
Whores drop their panties for lax players.
