Huge potential for many first time winners

There will be 41 cars in Daytona 500: 36 chartered teams & Jimmie Johnson, who has open exemption provisional.
So far open cars expected/confirmed to vie for four spots:
40-Allgaier (JRM)
44-Yeley (NY)
62-Alfredo (Beard)
66-Mears (Garage 66)
67-Heim (23XI)
78-McLeod (Live Fast)

32 of the confirmed Daytona 500 entries have never won a Daytona 500.
On average, it has taken Daytona 500 winners 7.5 starts to win their first. Dale Earnhardt took the longest with 20 starts.
Here's how many 500 starts the 2026 entries have for comparison:

They can’t even sniff those numbers now. I think with F1 going Apple, Nascar has a chance to increase viewers this year.
January 20, 2004: NASCAR announced the creation of the Chase for the Cup
In its first year, five drivers entered the final race with a chance to win the championship, and 9.9 million TV viewers watched the finale at Homestead

Corey LaJoie will be RFK fourth entry into the 500.
Got to have more cars to increase the carnage.

Cars still look retarded with the number so far forward.

I enjoyed part 1 of Race for the Seat. More action than Nascar

I didn’t want to post any results since its on sporadic channels at different times. It goes to Youtube but Fox will have it too at a bit later dates.
These are young kids trying to get a seat. They will be tested in many different type cars. But the premise is pretty good

Charlotte’s second date going back to the oval. While I’m glad they finally did it, I don’t like going from 6 road races down to 4, and not a single one is after July 1. I think this move could’ve waited a year.
I figured this was inevitable, but I’d like to see some ovals lose a second date and put some road races back on. Like Phoenix and maybe Kansas.
I actually think Iowa is on the chopping block this year.

Call me crazy but I don’t mind road courses. Especially at a track with 2 races. Charlotte can get really dull at times on oval. Road races usually have more action which is what I like.

I love the road races. I’m not a fan of a bunch of tracks getting two dates. Some I agree with. But tracks like Phoenix, Kansas, Darlington, Bristol don’t need two dates in my opinion.

Confirmed with NASCAR: NASCAR won't ask teams to do throwback paint schemes for Darlington in March. Darlington will still celebrate NASCAR history and "alumni" with the parade and appearances by former drivers. Teams obviously can do tribute schemes but that won't be the focus.
