Well, a Croatian player certainly wouldn't have done it unless he wanted to get his arse kicked the minute he stepped into Zagreb 
And based on how the conflicts worked out, the Croatians definitely had more conflicts with the Serbs than anyone else (a recurring trend in that war), so I bet it was magnified because a Serbian guy did it.
But there were Macedonians and Slovenians on that team as well (and maybe even Bosnians and Montenegrans...I don't actually know), and they didn't seem to do anything. As for Vlade, I can actually buy his excuse, but he should have learned from that lesson better than he actually did. Every 3 finger salute that he did in Sacramento must have pissed of Croatians and Bosnians around the world while making right-wing Serbian sympathizers very happy.

never watched 30 for 30 before but this show I could not turn off, it was fantastic learning experience that moved me to tears, i couldn't turn the channel
