I heard Bonine on the radio a little while ago and he isn't happy with the vote. He knows that this is stupid.

If Chalmette voted against the split, I don't see them being blocked from playing Holy Cross short of a split where the LHSAA games the power points earned by playing any of the splitters.

To put it in Baton Rouge terms, Catholic BR would probably have little issue playing Zachary, who is against the split, but certainly wouldn't want to play lesser public programs like Broadmoor, Tara, Woodlawn, etc, if any of them voted for the split.

But if they leave we're not supposed to be able to play them... it'd be like them joining MAIS and there's a rule against playing them.

football games don't have to have power points on the line.

Believe me they will hold these games over certain schools' heads to get them to stay...

Why would sponsors back out? Again more people would mean bigger audience to advertise to.
If Select schools leave how would they be able to afford the same things you are saying Non Selects won't be able to afford???

Sponsorships, namely the Sugar Bowl, will go with the select schools. Where do you think the board of supervisors went to high school?

One thing that hasn't had much said about it is that schools leaving, if they are overwhelmingly private and white, will change the demographics of the LHSAA... potential sponsors might be accused of racism for not wanting to sponsor both associations...

Nobody is leaving. You would have to have at least 150+ schools to make it worth leaving LHSAA. Not happening. Best we can hope for is that after 2 years, cooler heads prevail and some changes happen in the future. Guarantee there will be a Select school that wins a Title this year and all the parents will be bragging abt their baby on Facebook. Will also be threads on this board abt how awesome their school was this year.

no they won't and even so they won't care. It is about money and we know where they would choose to sponsor.

That's the exact mentality that led to the current situation.. The wheels are in motion, the LHSAA is already in a state of financial stress and this will only worsen.. It's not practical at this point for the private schools to stay within an organization that has no regard for their interests and has repeatedly thrown sand in their face.

Your right they aren't going anywhere. If they had some great association lined up they would already be gone.

Just how quickly do you think an association like this can be set up? It takes time and planning and that is exactly what has been happening.

It's the all-state sugar bowl and you can be sure they will sponsor the publics just as quick as the privates. All-state is a national company and isn't going to want to be accused of anything. Sure the board is local but they have to have a national sponsor for the sugar bowl and you don't keep that by favoring private schools over public. Plus everyone saying these publics (WM etc ) are going to go with the privates need to think about one thing. A lot of the biggest money publics aren't the only HS under that school board. Every HS in the school district would have to be in favor of leaving the LHSAA.

As I always say, if someone is in favor of the split, chances are, you are not going to change their mind. If they are against the split, chances are, you are not going to change their mind. For the public schools that voted for the split they do not care if the private schools leave. Think about this, they only play the football finals in the dome. If they have to do that in baseball, basketball, and softball because the privates leave, the publics that voted for the split are fine with that. The association will not fold if the private schools leave. The schools that voted for the split are willing to do whatever is necessary.

The special session was a complete cluster today. The association should have been more prepared. Once again, you saw a lack of communication play a major role today. The authors of the proposals were not on the same page with the association. I found it odd that Mr. Bonine did not say a word today with this being a huge meeting for the association.

I think most who were in attendance would agree the best presented proposal was Mr. Oakley from Iowa. It was easy to understand and clearly explained. I thought it looked bad on the association when the task force, who was asked by Mr. Bonine to come up with a proposal, was not clear on an implementation date. I thought it looked even worse when Mr. Bonnaffee all but admitted that he was misleading in the date of implementation to the task force.

If you were at the session today, and you saw the things I did, it might make you wonder if the problems start at the top.

Agreed. Also, just got some word(select school AD) saying that the privates would leave after this year coming up. Expect to see selects to leave for the new association after this year AND INCLUDE some public schools.

Many might have to play Winnfield all the time

Norman Booker can get a trophy though or that jackass Lakeview principal who said Riverside had their trophies the last two years.

It might not fold right away, but those schools will see how much they need the privates. It might be 5 years, but the association will be done

56.5% of the principals voted for it. It wasn't just the 1 or 2 that are always mentioned on here.

Yes but they're the leads in it who planted the seed to all of the others including that bitch from Winnfield who whined about playing JC when they made it to the finals. America today is awesome

I do not think those two caused 56.5% to vote the way they did today.
