Welp, hope you enjoyed the best run you'll ever have, Baylor

i think the only reason this whole thing ever got exposed is b/c Baylor is good at FB. if this was dumbfrick state, nobody ever cares enough

On the contrary, the only reason why this wasn't dealt with last summer was because no one really cares about baylor. If this had happened at ND or bama, it would have been the biggest sport story of the year

This is all you need slow.
Just like recruiting, seems lack of institutional control. Whether Briles is a scapegoat doesn't matter. He is the head coach and therefore still deserves the blame.
It's just like Joe PA. Even if Joe reported to administration, he did nothing when they did nothing.
Basically Briles took it upon himself to be the judge and jury for some of his players. Oh I believe my player, so I'll keep playing him. It's not his place to decide that.

but even then, you're dealing with "big time" programs that are good at FB

Now you could argue the university did a poor job of investigating these claims, but that's not Briles' job.
It specifically says in the report Baylor provided that football staff gave the impression of conducting a University investigation into some of the allegations but then did not follow through on reporting the assaults to the appropriate authorities. Briles is over football personnel and since it's being reported that the rest of the staff is not being fired that gives the impression that it may be speaking of Briles directly.
As to the data SFP is asking for, it's a private university releasing a report and I'm guessing that's protected for now. If Briles feels he's wrongly fired than a suit against them would pull that info out (so be it).

But this doesn't take a whole year and get this close to being blown over if it's at an actual major football program

well yeah nobody is calling BU a major CFB program
but the fact that it was knocking on the door in CFB was enough
if we're talking Tarleton State or Elon, then nobody ever hears about this and it likely stays in the shadows

Well sure, but they arent FBS P5 programs. I think this goes pretty similar if this happens at Purdue or Washington state

Tweets are indicative of flawed culture - I see a lot of kids using arguments along the lines of 'every body does it' or 'nobody would care if it was a losing program'. Tautological dissembling, IMO.
Charges against and convictions of so many players raise way more than reasonable doubt that things are broken.
Way, way too much smoke to deny that there's a fire here.

Gotcha. I was going with the Tweet earlier that stated the rest of the football staff would be retained outside of Briles in the meantime (it didn't mention the University staff).

Call me crazy, but i think they actually are getting it right and canning those who didn't act proper (wether those individuals actions were due to ulterior motives or just plain negligence).
Well and the reality is Briles is the HC. Whether fairly or not, some of this falls under the HC especially if personnel on his staff (or himself) were entertaining alleged victims with faux investigations to keep up appearances.
