Just playing Devil’s advocate. Do I think they are top 4? Absolutely not, but that one loss was a 3 point loss I believe to the undefeated #1 team in the country.

this. exactly.

they earned the bye. they can just as easily lose their first playoff game. that's the way its supposed to work.

Frankly Boise, big 12, and ACC champs having a first round bye is horse shite

Makes being the 5 and 6 seed a solid spot because Trey get a home game and easy second round match up.

because the 2 loss teams all deserve a bye based on potential even if they didn't show it half their games?

at what point do you wanna quit rewarding teams based on recruiting ratings and actually punish them for losing games?

Why is everyone just ok with slotting Boise St. into a top 4 spot with a bye?

Because no one cares, college football is dead.

The best four teams should get the top 4 seeds. The best four teams don’t include a big 12 winner, an smu team that’s best win will be a 4 loss Clemson, and Boise. And if Clemson wins some two loss big 12 team gets a bye
This same stupid logic doesn’t apply in college basketball or baseball. You don’t have to win you conference to get a 1 seed and or any other high seed.

quit reading here. the best team changes week to week.

If Georgia beats Texas one week and Texas beats Georgia the next week, who is the best team?

seeding is based on results, not who is better, because that changes. results don't

No it isn’t. It’s just a different game.

Win your conference game and secure a bye and shut the frick up.

Georgia fans may whine more than LSU fans.

GTFOH, they won their conference and met the stated requirements to get the bye.

We need more of these kinds of teams getting in over the Alabama's and ND's of the world.

No one in their right mind wants to see the 5th best SEC or Big 10 team make the playoff every year.

Oregon potentially getting the one seed and OSU in their first game seems like a hose job. That said, I can see the rationale. It would look terrible if they make the SEC the 1-4 seeds one year. The Big Ten and the SEC would almost always have the 1-4 seeds without the current format.

By 3 points to #1.

And Jeanty had over 200 yards.

Cry me a river.

Nope. You want games to matter as much as possible. So now Oregon has to actually win tonight.

(winning the conference is a pretty big incentive, so I don't think they'd be resting players or anything but adding the bye makes it bigger)

Doesn’t matter if they’re one of the best 12 teams

That was 13 years ago. Remember when LSU hired Brian Kelly and proceeded to torpedo into irrelevance.

Kansas St isn't a bad win, but not great. Definitely not top 16
