Good for the exposure but such an embarrassment for the state.

What's embarrassing about a human showing some compassion for two guys with bright futures who didn't physically harm anyone. This country could use some people in leadership position to show a lot more compassion, and common sense.

The country could use more people in leadership positions who hold others accountable for their actions. We all make mistakes, but to have zero penalties for mistakes such as this is inaccusable. This is the very definition of fostering the entitlement mentality.

You are correct Doc.

To have a DA make embarassing comments and not prosecute a stolen weapon/drug charge is inexcusable.

What would people say if this was just two regular guys who work regular jobs but got caught and the DA makes the same statement and does not prosecute? They would say the DA is simply not doing his job. They would be correct.

Pathetic.

They have every advantage, on and off the field.

One day you folks will quit believing in the tooth fairy and realize what you are watching.

Entertainment....entertainment....entertainment...

Wasn't this off the field episode just that?

I think so. If you can't laugh you can't live.

If Hillary wins the election, is this attitude. "Who cares", just pathetic what our country is turned into, no laws. If you care about ever having any justice in the world, that's why it matters.

Yes really. Your DA is making the entire state look like DA's with his AC comment.

Completely disregarding politics, that is one of the most incomprehensible attempts to convey a thought to ever grace tigerdroppings, if not the entire internet.

Congrats?

Preach brother, preach. I totally agree.

The problem though, ya fricking retarded dumb frick ya, is the much needed compassion about which you speak, and seriously, about which I agree (at times) ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAVE A GOSH DAMN PRICE TAG ON IT, nor is it suppose to be meted out based on 40 times, draft projection, vertical leap, or, believe it or not, the degree to which one's mudduh freakin temperature and humidity were controlled during one's formative freakin years, ya dumb fuq ya.

Would love it if someone with balls enough to do it to put one of 'dem mandangus or godangus or mandamus on him.

I'm thinking this DA's time in Louisiana is done after this one, as it should be. Birmingham will welcome him with open arms though.

Much a do bout nuttin Gun charges wouldn't of stuck. Not against the law to buy gun from a pawn shop. Also Hottie had a legal gun on his lap. Not a crime. The crime was charging them with gun charges. The weed was less then a gram. You don't ruin young men life over this. D A should be commended

Dude, I completely agree - I don't smoke dope, but don't think kid's lives should be ruined because of a little less than a gram, or for that matter, a little less than a pound, or a kilogram, or however it is you marijuana cigarette addicts buy that stuff.

The DA's decision to NOT prosecute them? To show compassion? To realize the penalty imposed upon them OUTSIDE Louisiana's system, should he prosecute, would greatly outweigh the crime? All those things are good.

What if their names would have been Quantavious "Hootie" Robinson, and Cam Jones, instead of Lawrence "Hootie" Jones and Cam Robinson?

The problem is not what the DA didn't do - prosecute. It's not even his reasoning, or his creation of the "I had no a/c and it's hot in La" defense. The problem he DID create, however, is that problem that arises when predictability, consistency, and expectation are ripped from Louisiana's jurisprudence. When those attributes aren't present, the attributes that are present become meaningless.
