it'll be just like the old days, with Okafor starting and Hilton watching him from the bench

Are they throwing anyone else in?

Swapping Chandler for Okafor will only save the Hornets just over $1 million next season and cost them an extra $40-plus million over the final three years of Okafor's deal if the 26-year-old exercises his $14.5 million option for the 2013-14 season. Chandler has just one year left on his contract after this season at $12.6 million.
This is interesting when you look at the numbers, obviously the Hornets brass believe that Okafor is a much better or more complete player long-term and would ake this deal to make the team better long-term. Why else would you swap for a player with a TON more money due to him over the long haul?

I can't read all of this crap. Okafor is a step up over Chandler . . . no one can seriously dispute that fact, IMO. People bought into the salary strapped bullshite and assumed that Shinn wasn't willing to spend money. That cap hell doomed this team for 09-10. Maybe, just maybe, they were wrong. This is a great deal for the Hornets if it goes through.

It's not an assumption when he's saying stuff like " we have no business being over the luxury tax in a small market," they had made it more than clear that their focus was to get under the luxury tax, unless you seriously think they've been throwing up a smoke screen for six months.

Charlotte would be stupid to give up wallace. It wont happen.

We went a lot further than that. Pre draft we were saying that Bower was one of the worst GM's in pro sports, he wasn't capable of doing anything right, etc.
The draft was as solid as can be and this move is an A+ any way you slice it.
If this goes through the Hornets are a 3-5 seed again. We thought we were done until 2010/2011.
i wont do it until 2011 and see how the peja deal is handled
we just gave up a huge expiring contract for a larger contract
if the front office is going to commit to winning and then say frick the luxury tax, then ill give him my good graces

Agreed, Okafor has managed to actually stay on the court, and even when they are both on the court Okafor has been better.
So the Hornets don't get better players because of financial reasons and the FO sucks. Hornets get a better player for more money, and the FO sucks for spending more. This front office may have made its share of mistakes, but some of the basketball followers around here seem even more clueless.

how do you figure that. this team isnt going to replace dwest without bringing in someone that can replace his points rebounds and minutes. you see any of those guys floating around right now for cheap?
