I think it leads to better games. Sure you might still have some blowouts in the first round but then you could have great games in the semifinal and final rounds.

The first year might be more blow outs, but having more teams make the playoffs will help distribute the best athletes to more schools. Instead of the same 5 or 6 teams getting all the best recruits, players would start looking at other schools for more playing time and still having the chance to make the playoffs.

Why would anyone want to continue going to Cincinnati, or some other G5 school, when going undefeated in the regular season gets you nothing?

Tell me this, do you think Oklahoma would've given Alabama a better game than Notre Dame did? Do you think Oregon would've given LSU a better game in 2019 than Oklahoma did

Absolutely not

The playoffs shouldn’t be the end all, be all of cfb.

Right now, it is and it’s making the sport shitty. But sure let’s expand the playoffs so we get more blowout post-season games and more teams, coaches and players bail once their playoff hopes are dashed.

You act like these two playoff games were close?

There is already a model in the FCS and they have the same number of teams as the FBS.

24 team playoff, top 8 teams get byes in the 1st round.

Does my solution solve every problem in college football? No. But it is a step inthe right direction.

Agreed. IF college football must have a playoff, this is a much better solution than what we have now.

I said this in a previous post but they should play all of the bowls and then have an eight team playoff based on a team's performance during the regular season and bowl games. It would help G5 schools like Cincinnati get the opportunity to build their resume and state their case for making the CFB Playoffs by beating a top Power 5 program in a bowl game. Conversely, the Power 5 teams those G5 schools would be playing in bowl games would also have plenty of motivation by having the opportunity to make the playoffs with a strong showing. You would have a bunch of bowl games with teams that have everything to play for.

go back to a national championship game and bowl tie ins. #1 vs #2.
Or go waaay back to when college football was king and do away completely with a "playoff" and let the bowl games decide the national champion like they used to when college football was the best sport in America. Why fix something that wasn't broken?

I mean, I know why. $$$$$$$$$$$$

That’s a 17 game season for SEC, ACC, Big10, Pac12, Big12 if they make it to the championship game.

12 game reg season
+conf champ game
+bowl game
+3 playoff games.

Ain’t happening.

playoff is only 4 teams and decided by a playoff committee that will always be swayed by the big names makes it completely corrupt

I prefer something like this over an 8 team playoff. I don’t like the playoff in general but I think 8 teams would be worse than 4 teams. If you want to have a playoff and devalue the regular season and bowl season then have a real playoff.

Even have a G5 play-in game with the 2 highest ranking G5s( Bypass their respective Conference Championships) play first the an automatic bid.

Allowing G5s a legitimate shot & expanding the CFB playoffs would eventually improve CFB parody.
