ND got penalized for close early season losses to playoff teams and Bama didn't for a bad loss to a garbage team.

Also this

Amazing how there’s always some way to justify Bama that other teams don’t get

Those are the rules that everyone agreed to, though

Shouldn’t include Tulane and JMU

Committee got it about as right as they could with the current framework.

More rules, stipulations, and criteria should be put in place going forward.

I wouldn’t even be mad with a ‘3 strikes and you’re out’ rule. Three loses eliminates you even if it’s a conference championship lose. Sit out and forgo winning your conference if you scared.

Simply can’t do that with teams having such different schedules and not all teams playing 13 games

I believe it is more likely that ND was penalized for not being in a conference looking at the big picture. Idc if they put in a 4 loss Bama/ MIA or any other random team that is in a conference. The point to ND is "join a fricking conference" and I'm all for it. Hope this happens every year.

I love it. No SEC team will get to the finals again.

Miami, ND, and Bama are all so close that the one getting left out is not getting robbed. My issue is the hypocrisy from this joke of a committee. Have we ever seen a team lose by 20+ and not drop in the rankings? And we all know the only reason Miami magically jumped ND at the end was because Duke won and they didn’t want to leave out the ACC.

Miami and Bama were rewarded for getting big wins (vs. ND and UGA respectively).

At some point, ND has to schedule and win a game vs a top team. You normally get those by playing in a conference.

If we didn’t have weekly rankings starting in week 7 and the committee simply unveiled this playoff field, I think 90% of people would have been perfectly fine with it.

I saw that's what ND's main gripe was. You had all these dumb shows every week and got our hopes up, then pulled the rug out from under us.

ND also didn't make their conference championship and Miami has the H2H.

If ND was in the ACC then them winning the CCG would put them in over Miami who didn't even make their CCG.

Its almost like there's an advantage to being in a conference and should be disadvantages for not being in a conference.

This is exactly what should happen every year until ND gets the point.

UGA too low and Oregon too high. Vandy should have gotten in over Miami.

Well if the argument was a conf championship loss shouldn’t hurt you, then yes BYU should be in.

want a chance win.

You reap the benefits and the money of playing in the SEC. If you don’t like losing three games and scared then opt out

I think Vandy should have been in over Miami. Both 10-2, Vandy had a SOS in the low 20s while Miami's was in the 40s.

I'd gave swapped UGA and Ohio State's seeds, as well.

aTm had the easiest sec schedule. Ole Miss lost to Uga by a score.

Someone posted a strength of schedule that had A&M’s overall schedule strength rated higher than Ole Miss’s.

So maybe the SEC wins and loss percentage of SEC opponents should be more important in tie breaking scenario for the SEC championship, but if overall strength of schedule was higher for A&M (big if) than that should matter more for the playoff committee and their seedings.

EDIT: Besides what was posted on the SEC Rant ESPN’s SOS and SOR have A&M with stronger overall schedule than Ole Miss (also have A&M higher than ole miss with GC, FPI, and overall
Efficiency).
