E5 is mainly a DH now (less than 75 starts at first in both 2015 & 2016). I think Yuli would play 1st with E5 DHing against RHP. Gattis may be shite out of luck against righties to start off, imo. I guess it depends on how confident they'd be in E5's defense everyday combined with whether or not they want another run producer (gattis) or contact hitter (yuli) in the lineup.
And Reddick hits RHP well: .322/.386/.485 last season (those numbers are really f'ing good!). For his career it isn't as good, but still close to an .800 OPS I believe. They might put him near the top just to break up the RH hitters.
They'll definitely have flexibility to play around with it though, which they haven't had in years. It would mean no more black hole from the 5-9 spots!

What is Rosenthal and others saying about our chances with Ed Encarnacion?

None of the national guys have said much other than we are contenders or interested.

Gattis had a .795 OPS last season versus RHP. He is going to have to play himself out of the lineup versus righties after last year's performance.
It's possible Gattis will end up getting those looks at first base we've wondered about if McCann and EE are also here.

What about Gattis against Lefties?

Not saying we sign him, but where do you guys think Dexter Fowler ends up?

Good post and possibly so.
And I am also giving Yuli the benefit of the doubt that last season was very bad luck as his numbers suggest. Guy had a ridiculously awesome 9% K rate but his babip was 30-40 points below league average. If he keeps that K rate at an above average clip (say 12%) and that babip falls in line with the MLB average, he'll be a good hitter. But, by all accounts, he is supposed to be an above average hitter with a high solid contact rate. So if that Babip increases to an above MLB average clip, I think he might live on base this upcoming season - high average, good OBP tied to the high average (great OBP if he walks more), and gap power. That OPS could be great also. The scouts were praising him for something, right? Hopefully he makes the necessary adjustments to MLB hitting and with some babip luck this time around he shows us what the praise was about.
Regardless, the fact we are discussing what to do with one spot in the batting order instead of 5 is pretty damn fun. And of course there is the E5 needing to sign thing...

Encarnacion's agent saying the Blue Jays are "showing the most love" tells me he's only using the Blue Jays as leverage for the Astros to increase their offer.

I googled EE to look at some stats and the little summary from wiki off to the right in the google search read like this:
I didnt see it when I actually clicked on the wiki page but I still thought it was funny.

That package he proposed at the bottom is pretty wild

All the rumors are pointing at Bregman is a requirement for a package for Sale.
That's a tough call as a GM... What would Ryno do?

And don't forget... draft pick compensation for Toronto if they sign EE.

I'm waiting until somebody other than a Barstool sports reporter and another White Sox guy report it to get my hopes up.
Ryno has already said he wouldn't do Bregs for Sale
