In today's edition of being desperate for Astros news....Springer got engaged
Sounds like he should sign an extension to secure guaranteed money to provide for his new bride (and maybe future George Chelston IV)

One pitcher now decidedly not on our prospect list:
@jakemkaplan
Astros minor league RHP Brendan McCurry has been suspended 50 games by MLB for testing positive for Methamphetamine.
Meth. Lawd.

Hinch was at Christmas Eve service at my church. Didn't get a chance to ask why he let Fister go through the batting order 3 times.

I find it strange that Stubbs isn't on that top 10 list, I feel like he is pretty good

If Cameron's dad were not a successful ex-MLB outfielder, where would he be ranked?

I have re-dedicated myself to the Astros this year. My first diehard devotion was Astros from the age of 6. I suffered through many seasons with many stories of anguish. My dad taught me how to start the '73 Ford b/c it was the only radio that picked up KLVI out of Beaumont when we moved to Lake Charles, and he didn't want me to kill the battery.
The WS in '05 was cathartic for me. Slayed a lot of demons. LSU football kind of replaced the Astros at that point for me. I had the good fortune to attend Games 3,4, and 5 in Chicago this year with some diehard Cubs fans, and the enjoyment was bittersweet for me. That, along with LSU's more than obvious settling for mediocrity, has caused me to divest from LSU football and invest in Astros baseball both financially and emotionally.
I have partaken in DAT threads progressively over the last few years, and usually find myself preferring the updates from here over anywhere else. I appreciate you guys, even if it's not noticeable. I am older and more bitter than some of you Astro-babies, but must admit that your dedication has been no different than mine. You've endured some pretty down years to get where we are today.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you guys! I'm an old baseball soul, been watching a lot of MLBN this week with the old Ken Burns documentaries that I taped originally on PBS. Pulled out my old Ted Williams cards I've collected from his playing days ('39-'60), and I just have a feeling about the Astros like I did for LSU in '07.
