Justin Verlander will hold a showcase for scouts and evaluators tomorrow, The Athletic’s Britt Ghiroli reports (Twitter links). This is the first time Verlander will throw in front of evaluators from other teams since his Tommy John surgery in September 2020. Multiple teams are expected to have personnel on hand, if just as a matter of simple due diligence rather than a clear interest in signing Verlander on the free agent market. As WFAN’s Sweeny Murti observes, it probably safe to assume the Yankees will have personnel on hand — Verlander is throwing at a Cressey Sports Performance facility, and Eric Cressey is the Yankees’ director of player health and performance.
At least the Astros will get 2 draft picks for losing CC and JV.
Hope they both sign with my Blue Jays.
Or with my Detroit Tigers.
Or with my FL Marlins.

Did they throw in a gastric bypass?

Hopefully that led to the hitting issues late last season

Well, that could legitimately explain a lot in regards to his production and his errant throws
But how do we keep him 3 in the order for so long knowing this?

It's mind numbing knowing we gave away a shot at a world series playing an injured/slumping player in the middle of the order every game until pending elimination forced a change.

The ultimate lazy-arse manager

The only logical thing to do is give that manager a new contract.

Seems like a large chunk when we still have Pressly.

I don't see why not if this is a deal that can get done.

Absolutely.

I'm on on Trevor Story for that money. Gives us room to possibly look at another pitcher. He's a good defender and I think the ballpark will help him at the plate too.

Maybe, but for his career he is barely even a league average hitter away from Coors. And he strikes out more than league average, doesn't fit the Astros' mold very well.
For his career he's been really good at spreading the ball around, with more than 50% of batted balls to center and above average to opposite field. I'd hate for him to see those Crawford Boxes and abandon his approach and try to pull everything.

My Tigers will be shaping up nicely.
Meanwhile, Y'alls Astros will be suffering through another season of "The most successful manager in MLB." because "He's such a well respected nice guy.".

I
I'd be very leery of this. Why wouldn't the CWS give him a QO? Because they were afraid he'd accept?
I sure hope we sign Graveman. Solid addition.
Trade rumors are just hilarious to me. They are such crap and almost never turn out to be true!

I agree. Think he would honestly be a good fit here.
