On Strom, I’ve heard that he has a vacation home in Arizona. I think:
1. He wants to be closer to home.
2. He likes training new and younger coaches and doing turnarounds. I think that stuff is fun and energizing in business. I’m sure it’s the same in coaching.
3. FODB!

I believe it’s 100% fan vote.

With my son injured and Pena replacing Correa, Marte makes all the sense in the world. But a bidding war would suck.

He just turned 33 so I'd love it if the can get him for 3 years or less. A two-year big over-pay might be best for us but I assume he'll want at least the extra year from somebody.

the Astros have a window 3-4 years MAYBE 5 thats all you need him for so you can overpay knowing when Altuve get old the contract expires.. the only high cost player left is Bregman and whoever else you might sign.
Extend your quality youth in the meantime Alverez, Tucker, a pitcher or 2,Pena & Lee we have another 10 years as a contender

One of the reasons he turned down the Marlins offer was that it was only 3 years. So either over pay for 3 years or go 4
Posted on 11/13/21 at 7:31 pm to tduecen
the Marlins arent winning anything soon Astros can pay more per year and still be a good value for the team
Plus I bet he wants a shot at a ring, Astros are a contender without him he knows her could be the difference
yall just shut up and let me and James work

One key if you give Marte a few years is he can move to left field since you have my son and Leon in the CF pipeline.

I'm here for a relatively cheaper contract for Marte in CF and let Peña handle SS. It's either higher money at short with Chas/Siri in CF and a lesser commitment but upgrade in CF and roll with the prospect at short.

Strom was adamant not to start Garcia on 3 days rest. That was only 1 of the issues but a final straw.
Should have been Jake.

Meh. Strom got too much credit and not enough blame in Houston. Good pitching coach, but not the end-all be-all. Break is probably better for both sides. He’ll probably do well in Arizona and the Astros will probably be fine, too. They’ll hire internally and continue the pattern of following the analytics.
Ultimately, might not matter much either way as long as FODB is still here. Everyone in the world figured starting Garcia on 3 days rest probably wasn’t a good idea and they did it anyway. Decisions have consequences.

Just read that. Seems like yesterday that he was up with the Stros but it was 18 years ago. Time keeps on ticking…
