Can we discuss the seemingly annual propensity for our league leading offense to have a top to bottom slump every post season and how it can be solved.

I'll CC Jim Cluck on this thread.

Remember that time the offense managed 2 home runs in the World Series, both by 1 player. That sucked.

The absolute STATE of the offense when they have everything on the line.

Disgusting act in games three and four

Cluck if you are reading this just sign shitty players and play them in the World Series over Yordan, Tuck, Tuve, and Bregs. That's when they will go off (D'Arnaud, Soler, Duvall)

The most frustrating part. You've got all stars at damn near every position. Year after year offense that tops the league and every year there's at least one post season series where the offense goes completely dark.

Travis Darnaud out homered our entire non-Altuve lineup. At the end of that series I was left thinking wtf more can you do? You bring a league leading offense into the world series and they choke it away.

And we were so worried about how the Astros would get 27 outs in the middle of the series. Lost game 3 2-0 and lost game 4 3-2

Unreal

I seem to recall there was a report of a nagging injury that required a procedure shortly after the WS

Still doesn’t account for the stupidity of his prior off-season and reduced production last year.

He did admit recently during the Shriners broadcast that he doesn’t have power to the opposite field, which undoubtedly has affected his approach at the plate.

Yea it was a thumb injury.

When they reported he said everything was good and he's swinging back at 100%.

Agreed on how he took care of his body the previous year, hopefully he cleaned that up and has a big time bounce back year

Bregman is the most important player for us this year IMO. Especially if Correa isn’t back

If Correa does come back, what do yall do with Peña? I think if he comes back he may have early opt out points that benefit Boras.

Do you stash Peña in the minors and see what becomes of Correa? He could probably use more time at AAA. He doesn't have defensive flexibility as he's pretty much only played SS and is highly rated there defensively.

So as a highly rated prospect near ML ready, do you trade him for a more proven ML to address a roster need like CF? Ketel Marte is a guy that came to mind for me. Hes signed through this year with 2 more team options at 8 and 10 million. Definite offensive upgrade in CF. He's s bad CF though. But his true position is 2B/SS where he's much better defensively. If Correa opts out in a year or two, move Marte to SS.

Baws we can still have our Marte Partay in CF.

My guess on Correa is 2/90 with an opt out after year 1.

If it’s long term I think you shop Pena to upgrade at center or package him with Odo to add a TOR arm with multiple years and bullpen (cough John Means cough)

Alvarez gonna take up his slack by hitting .400 due to the shift ban.

If he has a one year opt out I think you hold him unless something really good comes. I know he’s never played center but he seems to be a pretty good athlete, might be worth a shot in spring training as well

Not happening till next year but Yed and Ted will feast on that pullside hole. Easily .300+ hitters with no shift.

If you want to say a 1 on 1 at 80, ok maybe

That would be enough

You start getting past 40 per, and you may as well give him 8 at 280

Realistically the window is still “open” for two years. If you can maximize that without hamstringing yourself long term think you absolutely have to try your damndest to get it done almost regardless of price.

I love fellow Astros fans, this thread has me convinced we struggle to win 75 games!

All of this hope rests on the wide shoulders of the obese. God help us.

I don’t see Correa taking any straight up 1 or 2 year deal. It’s going to be 6 or maybe 7 years or something with a 1 or 2 year opt out and maybe another one after that.

I’m guessing his market is still very good despite the lack of news and he’s already received offers better than 8/280. I would be surprised if he doesn’t have an offer better than that now as well

So you’re obviously new here….

Wait until the middle of May in the middle of a 2 game skid. Read these threads and you’ll be convinced the Astros are the same level of the Orioles and Pirates and none of these guys have no business playing Major League Baseball. Worst roster on the planet.
