Yeah I am not down on Abreu, I just think the upside is very limited vs Duran. At this point of the team, give me the guy who could flash MVP upside but crash and burn

Duran RF
Pena SS
Yordan DH
Altuve 2B
Correa 3B
Walker 1B
Diaz C
Smith LF
Meyers CF

Duran is certainly the more win-now option.

Jakey is a perfect fit in the 9-hole but I am close to adopting Cole.

He needs to play if they’re gonna carry him. He’s a big time physical talent who needs to be challenged, having him as a fourth or fifth outfielder does nothing. I can see them giving him time over Smith based on what they’ve said

Damn this would have solved every problem. Very curious the other three teams in on Paredes. Pirates don’t feel like a match bc they have a SP surplus and if it’s a bat they’d have to send some money back with Bryan Reynolds bc that’s the only MLB position player take IMO

Could maybe seeing the Yankees being in on him, they can’t love going into the season with McMahon as their primary 3b option and they are pretty LH heavy.

Phillies too, he’d fit their ballpark and they could probably find someone to dump Bohm on

We seen the Padres linked to Cocksuck so I assume they are inquiring about Paredes, too. They want a first baseman.

I think we don’t love the Duran option simply cause of money purposes

Pirates make zero sense as a trade partner. Esock would not be great at PNC. Not to mention the assets Pittsburgh have don’t match up with what we need

Wonder what SD could send us

If they deal with Pittsburgh it feels like another three teamer. San Diego too probably. I wonder if St Louis would deal one of their LHH OF’s with how they’ve been selling off players.

Hmmm the asking price must be pretty damn high and rightfully so.

He's a two-time All-Star and just 26. It's crazy. Just dump Crane's First Baseball Folly 2.0.

And he is the only patient hitter in the top of the lineup. We would’ve had huge egg on our face with just one injury in the infield.

I'd like to present my concerns that our outfield appears to be set as some combo of

Zach Dezenzo
Zach Cole
Jake Meyers
Cam Smith
Jesus Sanchez

Terrifying.

Honestly, that's not terrible when you factor in playing Yordan in LF around 40 games (and not acting like playing the field is why he's been getting injured).

You need to see what Cole and Smith are going to be. They have star level talent. Throw Matthews into that mix as well. The only way to know is having at bats for them. You can always make a trade in-season.

Yep

We will undoubtedly not regret keeping Paredes, likely for multiple reasons

Curious if Milwaukee may be a good trading partner for Esock now. Unless they plan on being aggressive and calling up Jesus Made (5 star name)

This may be ignorant but how are they not checking his progress at least twice a month during the offseason? They word that like once we played our final game last season he walked out of the locker room and they haven’t been in touch since
