Know they were linked to Joey Bart he’d be a great backup catcher option
Yeah but if it involves giving up a top 2 bat in Paredes, I would pass. It would have to be an absolute haul and include an immediate everyday starting OF

I hate trading Paredes. His patience is a skill most of this lineup lacks and we don't have very much power either. I'd love to have a healthy Yordan and Paredes in the middle of the lineup.

Fully agreed. Espada and Brown have to get creative with Paredes if they are serious about winning. Trading him would be detrimental to the team, especially given all of our injury history

In my opinion them unloading Sanchez like this to free up money tells me they probably aren’t trading Paredes, instead signing a cheap LH OF and C (or making a small trade for one)

Part of the idea of trading Paredes was to also free up money which was why they were targeting guys like Abreu who were pre arbitration

Would much rather have Parades than sell high for an outfielder because we’re scared about Cole and Cam.

To be honest I'm pretty shocked they didn't solve the infield problem by trading Peña and moving Correa back to SS. I thought they'd go the Tucker route and trade Peñas final year since there's been no indication they're going to resign him.

That trade seems dumb for Toronto. Loperfido is a nice, cheap rotational option with pop.

Agree on the salary implications. At the very least, it's a "just in case we can't trade Isaac" deal. Also, somebody wake up Sleepy Joe and explain to him that Yed will start at least once a week in LF.

Correa has been pretty vocal about his shortstop days being done

Yeah I really don’t understand it for them. I realize they are all in on winning a title but they are effectively paying like 15 mil for Jesus Sanchez

Incredibly expensive platoon piece with one tool (bat speed) and zero defensive ability.

Guess they were desperate to see if they can squeeze any juice to replace Santander’s pop

Known douche Joe Kelly out here making up shite. He faced Marisnick 5 times. Twice as an Astro in 2015 and then not again until 2021 when Jake was with Padres.

That would be embarrassing, but certainly not for a guy that is embarrassment personified

Dude is just plain dumb

I feel like the very simple fix to this is Paredes full-time at 2B and Altuve/Yordan platooning LF/DH. As we all now, Altuve’s range at 2B is no more. And he’s somewhat serviceable in LF

It’s probably what they will do if they don’t make a deal, but the thing that makes it not simple is Paredes will likely be a terrible defensive 2B

The hand/perpetual hamate injury that’s never healed has been his biggest injury issue lately

Which obviously has zero to do with him playing the field

I have even a more simple solution that Mr Walker will undoubtedly provide in a not so convenient manner, as soon as he sees that steady diet of 95+ FBs

Every writer including Rome has strangely framed it as “there isn’t a path to regular playing time for Paredes” when it should be “there isn’t a path to regular playing time for Walker.” I would hope, at least.
