Poor Brandon Walter will probably go out and be serviceable only to be thrown to the wolves by that lineup. Why not just start Salazar as well? He’s just rotting on the bench.

Nobody has seen him for the 2+ months he was on the team so I can't blame you for missing it but he was optioned on Sunday.
Also I just looked at Sonny Grays remaining conract and hes owed a staggering $35 million next year.

Depends on what the Cardinals are willing to eat and what they want out of it. I don't think they're going to find anybody willing to take on $35 million for Sonny Gray.
Maybe they go for a pure salary relief deal and take Lance back at $17 million a year. But they might find someone who values Gray more at $17.5 and offers some kind of flyer prospect on him.
Lance's 10-5 rights probably come into play too. Honestly not convinced hed waive them.
