I agree. At least YOU have some sort of idea to what reality is.
A lot of Duck fans do. Most Duck fans would agree that the last three years we haven't had the quality upfront required to win the big one. CFB fans will be surprised this year though.

Hardest 2 games on the road are MSU/Wisc. Both have new QBs and are replacing huge pieces
If they split the 4 I have as tossups, then they're 10-2.
As I said, if Meyer can get them up to middle of the pack in the country, they can get that done IMO

That California game is going to be hard to predict. The Bears have some talent and sometimes put it to good use and others not so much.
Allen is a monster. Their defense will play Urban's offense very well.
ETA: since Cal is on the road, I would pick OSU but I wouldn't put a lot on it.

Any unbiased fan watching that game saw that LSU fricked their shite up.
Would you call the Associated Press, who covered that game, unbiased? LINK

Being without standout cornerback-punt returner Cliff Harris was more than mistake-prone and third-ranked Oregon could overcome.
The Ducks' fill-in punt returner had a fumble that led directly to an LSU touchdown and Lee's touchdown pass came against the defensive back playing in Harris' spot in the fourth-ranked Tigers' 40-27 victory Saturday night.
Already without the suspended Harris, the Ducks made things even harder on themselves with four turnovers -- three that LSU converted into 20 points while building a 30-13 lead.
"Those are self-inflicted wounds," coach Chip Kelly said. "The drops, the turnovers and the penalties are the things that really killed us. Against a team like that, you're not going to win the game."
Brown Nose Bison's favorite player said this after the game, "I really think we stopped ourselves," Ducks redshirt freshman center Hroniss Grasu said. "They are a very talented team but I felt like if we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot so many times we could have overcome them and gotten that W."
Ted Miller, of ESPN, a guy born and raised in Atlanta, went to College in Virginia, Covered Auburn Football for his first sports media job, and married to a Bama wife, who hardly is biased against the SEC said this:
quote:
Oregon lost its marquee showdown with LSU. The nation is saying it was because the Tigers bullied the Ducks with their super-superior angry robot players. Seems completely reasonable, of course, to ignore four Ducks turnovers and 12 Ducks penalties. Sure that had nothing to do with it.

I do realize that that some teams can be good, and do it often, at stripping the ball. We were top-or close to it- the previous 2010 season ourself. However when you see a kid, first game, gets thrown in there because of so many injuries, and he allows 2 fumbles just of his own, but then goes on to only fumble 1 time the whole rest of season, it does not take a rocket scientist to point out why we lost. Sure we lost. No debate on that. But why? And is it true we got totally dominated? We had more yards then them. Yes the score would seem we got dominated. But there are very easy explanations to why that score turned out that way. If you saw the game(and were not drunk) you would easily know why. And I am hardly alone in suggesting this as my above quotes do show...

A little disappointed they don't think more highly of our defense, but not surprising given the issues on offense. We're in the exact same boat as UF. Should field a Top 10/5 defense but have no idea what the frick will happen on O.
Center is a bit of an issue as we had a redshirt freshman starting, who did well against smaller DTs but got bullied by bigger NT throughout the season. Hopefully an entire offseason in a real weight training program will fix that. Then there is the the QB situation. Ash is the guy, despite what the talking heads are saying about it. If he can minimize the mistakes and be enough of a threat to keep opposing defenses honest, then we could end up surprising a lot of people a la 2008. We're absolutely loaded at RB with 3 NFL caliber backs. They'll make a huge impact provided the staff doesn't run them into the ground in blow outs like last year. I'm not sure what we have at TE, but I've heard good things about MJ MacFarland and DJ Grant from spring ball. At WR we have Jaxon Shipley, who is just a straight baller and Mike Davis, if he can pull his head out of his arse and play like he did in 2010. After that we don't have much, so I could see one or two of the freshmen stepping up, if Desean Hales can't put it together.
The defense is what really excites me about this team though. Year 2 in Manny's system, so this year it will be all about reeking havoc on opposing QBs. We'll field one of the top 2 DE combos (along with LSU) in the county with Okafor and Jeffcoat. DT should be solid as we're going to be rolling out a 4-man rotation with Desmond Jackson, Chris Whaley, Brandon Moore and Ashton Dorsey. What was a question mark last year, appears to be one the constants in the D this year. Linebacker will have the most question marks with new starters in Edmond and Cobbs, but they both have the talent to far surpass their predecessors. Jordan Hicks will be the glue that holds this corps together as he looks to build off of his stellar Holiday Bowl vs Cal. The secondary will be one of the best in the country with one of the best corner duos in the nation on Quandre diggs and Sir Carrington of Byndom. Thorpe contender Kenny Vacarro will be the emotional leader of this group as well as the entire defense and Adrian Phillips will man the other safety position when he returns from injury. We also have great depth with Duke Thomas and Josh Turner being able to come in and provide almost as excellent play.
Sorry for the novella, but I just can't wait for football season to start and it's really exciting to see the Horns as an afterthought, since I think we could surprise a lot of people this year. It's really just a matter of what the offense will be capable doing that will determine whether we could make a run this season or if it won't be till 2013.

I have no prob with this. Barkley is experienced ,METT is not. Plus its not how you start ,ITS how you finish.
Is the poll reflective of where they are right now, or where they will finish? Because how USC will finish could be severely impacted by lack of depth caused by scholarship losses to NCAA sanctions. The concerns have been commented upon due to a couple injuries during Spring practice. USC will undoubtedly get some help when their incoming freshman class arrives on campus, but how much can you count on freshmen to contribute immediately?

I do not think they will finish there. They will have at least two losses. IMO. But not to Oregon.

Translation: you are correct. USC will come out of the gate as #1 until they face Oregon and lose. That game is on the same day as LSU-Bama btw...The two biggest CFB games in the Nation, with the top 4 teams battling it out and they have to be on the same day. That sucks...

Your logic does not make sense at all. Predicting USC to be better then UO and beat them, but then worse then all the rest on their schedule? All while UO and USC are clearly above far and away the top 2 teams in the PAC this year by a country mile... And you have USC losing twice, but not to UO?
Bro, free advice...Stop predicting games. Have you seen the 100 people that use your crazy incorrect game picks as sig quotes lately?

i guess so considering we were winning the field position battle all night... we didn't need to drive the ball 80-90 yards everytime we got it, mostly because we kept taking the ball from your offense (notice i didn't say ya'll GAVE it to us).. here's a note to most of you pac-12 gurus : YOU DON'T NEED 979 YARDS OF OFFENSE TO 'DOMINATE' ANOTHER TEAM i've said it time and time again, we play a different breed of football down here in the south, you wouldn't understand it... i'm tired of your shite
