Talked to the guys yesterday at practice and they are ready to roll. Every team this time of the year is dinged up. You have to play through it.

Oh wow. You talked to HS kids!!

Settle down Sandusky. Nobody is impressed.

Natchitoches Central played Byrd in pre season and beat them 5 scores to 2. WM and NC played a very competitive game, with WM pulling away late, but the score was tied late in the 3rd or early 4th QTR.

I saw an 0-10 team play head to head in a scrimmage with an eventual state champ......don't read too much into scrimmages

Mandeville has a chance, so long as the refs are not from Monroe area

Dont worry ever about WM getting the refs calls. Last year it was so bad they made the news on rivals - something like 200 yards in penalties - but still won the game. Refs from lake charles area (i think). This year in at least one game it wasnt much better. Refs dont like Don Shows.

Also, Carencro and Ouachita played dead even with C winning in the last 20 sec. WM and O played into overtime with WM winning. I expect a close game.

Barbe was from Lake Charles, the refs were from Baton Rouge. As far as where the refs will be from this Friday it won't be Northshore, Monroe, or Shreveport. You can't use local refs for playoff games. WM never uses Monroe officials after the 1994 Ouachita game which was also the last time WM lost to them btw.

Man, I hope Byrd wins it. I don't give two shits about Louisiana high school football (except for Episcopal, my old school when I lived in BR), but Byrd is right down the street from Centenary and I gotta think it'll be pretty special if they win. My high school (Bozeman High in Montana) won the state championship for the first time in 93 years, along with the first undefeated record in school history. Watching the Hawks kick the shite out of Helena High in our own stadium and a November blizzard (air temperature zero, wind chill -25, snowed about 5 inches during the game) was pretty magical and not
something I'll soon forget.

I was on the 94 Ouachita team. East Monroe High football went to shite when that class got out of there. I still remember seeing Lou Holtz in the weight room recruiting Jamie Spencer for Notre Dame. The old 2-5A district with Ouachita, WM, Neville, Ruston, and Bastrop was a joy to not only watch but to play in. Jermaine Brown was in bounds on the questionable call against WM too, btw.'

Carencro has 5 seniors that are all D1 prospects.

They have a runningback named Alex Johnson that just went over 2500 yards and 40 td's. New records at cro breaking kevin faulks.

Both DE's are studs. Jacoby briscoe 6'5 270 has a A&M offer.

Their LT is 6'4 315 and is a good athlete with offers from mid majors.

Carencros QB is 6'3 210 and can run/pass. He just picked up a hand written letter with a offer from coach Hud.

If Carencro plays well at home,I think they win by 2 scores

have the Skippers ever made it this far into the playoffs? I attended Mandeville in the early 90's and don't recall them ever making it this far since that time....

Can't be D1 prospects and not have the grades. Cro is not deep at all. Stop Alex Johnson you stop carencro. I'm scared for UL if that Nixon kid is being recruited. He is not very good. Idk where u get your info that dude. . Stop Alex Johnson like Acadiana did then you stop carencro. Bottom line

Not to knock the Alex kid, but Faulk was much better IMO, plus he played both sides and also split time with 2 other good backs Cro had at the time.

Should be a good game though...

Madison Central out of Mississippi won at WM this year. It's possible M'ville can win

1999: 1st round L @St. Amant (I think)
2000: 2nd round L vs Carencro
2001: 1st round L vs Barbe
2006: 1st Round L vs Ruston.
2007: L vs Ehret in the Quarters
2008: 2nd round L vs Higgins
2009: 1st round L to Westgate
2010: 1st Round L to Terrebone.

That is mostly from memory so if I am wrong forgive me. MHS had some good teams in the early 2000's but Rodney made some piss poor decisions. That team that lost to St. Amant was pretty damn strong. They had BJ Sams, Ryan Dennis, Chip Moore, Michael Johnson, a mean nasty O-Line and a stout defense. The 00 team that went to the second round was undefeated in regular season play if I recall. Had a great defense.

MHS has been to the playoffs quite a bit, they just haven't gotten to the dome as far back as I can remember.
Things have turned around since the mid 90's when Skip Curtis was lucky to scrape out a single W.

ETA: that lost to Ruston in the first round was heart breaking
