re: Final NFL Power Rankings (IMO)

Yes it was.
It was 16-8 and the Saints defense needed to make a stop. The Saints also missed TWO field goals. I still think the throw Wilson made toward the end of the game was incomplete. This was before the Lynch run. The Saints offense got into a rhythm late. They get that stop maybe they drive down and score?
Seattle controlled the game and were the better team, but the Saints shot themselves in the foot numerous times. It was a closer game than the score indicates IMO. The Saints defense played outstanding.

And this matters how? New Orleans lost to New England, Denver throttled New England.
And LSU pounded Auburn's arse and Auburn beat a Bama team that pounded LSUs arse.
The reason I ranked NO so high is because they were in their playoff game with Seattle in the late 4th quarter at Seattle.
Seattle just destroyed Denver. Denver, no matter what they did to New England, would not come close under any circumstance of beating Seattle. Even still, I give Denver benefit of the doubt.

quote:Yeah....they were forced to play a road playoff game because they didn't win the division(like another team you still somehow ranked NO ahead of). They beat the mighty 10-6 Eagles.
The Saints played a road playoff game and won.
They then failed to make it to the conference championship, which NE accomplished. They also lost to NE head to head.
quote:Once again, they had to play on the road because they had a lower seed. And that game was never competitive until the last 2 minutes when the Saints had some magic go their way. And they coughed it up on one of the dumbest decisions in NFL history.
The Saints went up to Seattle and lost by one score. They had a top 5-6 offense and defense. I think if the Saints and Patriots played right now on a neutral site, that the Saints would have a decent chance to be favored.
And you also seem to forget the MNF arse blasting the Seahawks dealt you.

Carolina is being severely overrated on here.
They got their arse beat on their home field in the playoffs. If Vaccaro doesn't go out with an injury they do not beat the Saints either. Who knows what happens in the NE game if the refs actually make the right call at the end as well. Good team, but not the 5th best. Sometimes records do not indicate how good a team actually is.

16-0 in the first half and 23-8 with around 3 minutes left. 1 turnover. 8 penalties. Only 1 more minute in TOP for NO. I have to disagree man.

Never said we were good. At least we get a good draft pick out of it rather than some moral victories.
And you're not helping your case since we could have easily beaten you twice. Carolina at least beat us handily once.

It is a final nfl power rankings, not playoff only final rankings right?
You can say if this happened, or if that happened. But bottom line, even though the Saints won a playoff game, they both lost in the same round. Yeah, the Saints loss looked better than Carolina's loss, but who is to say that Carolina might not have done just as well against Seattle or the Saints do just as bad against the 49ers.

For sure.
If New Orleans and Carolina played on a neutral field right now, the Saints would absolutely be favored.
And I still stand by New Orleans > New England
The NFC was a much better conference than the AFC this season. Honestly, the gap was huge. People acting like because one team won a division and another didn't that they are absolutely better are being really shortsighted. It's like saying that the Pac 12 champ was automatically better than the second best team in the SEC simply because they won their conference.

this thread is fricking gold. saints being ranked over patriots and panthers consistently which makes absolutely zero sense. and the only defense anyone has made so far are like 7 hypotheticals and the fact that the saints won in a playoff round that the other 2 didnt even have to play in.
yes, we know the falcons suck.

Not putting them over NE, but there's plenty of logical reasoning as to why I feel they are better than Carolina.

And there is also plenty of logical reasoning as to why others feel the Panthers are better.
When it came down to playing the 1 game that would decide (pretty much) who won the division and who got the first round bye, Carolina beat the Saints.
Each team lost in the 2nd round and both teams played each other in their most important game of the season, to see who won the division, and Carolina won.

well vegas agrees with you. saints are 1/20 favorites to get into the SB while atl/carolina is 1/25.
therefore since vegas knows almost everything, NO > ATL and Carollina
