It was also wrong. Hyperbole usually stretches the truth, not invents it. Literary tip.
I'm so proud there are Mauer for MVP threads I didn't start. The guy is having a historic season.

It would be hard for me to watch Justin Upton get past in a draft situation.
eta: Probably Hanley more so though, I don't know if Mauer can duplicate this ridiculous season.

last person to hit 25 HRs and bat .380: Ted Williams in 1957
and RBI's arent the end all, but still, the way people dismiss them as important is silly.

I felt it needed to be said again.

I love how every show on ESPN is freaking out about Mauer all of the sudden after I broke this story to everyone last night.

And, besides Mauer, the other three candidates everyone is mentioning now are Teixeira, Jeter, and Cano.
Amazing that the top players in the nation league seem to be a lot better than the ones in the american league, but the AL is a shite ton better than the NL.

I think Smoltz is about to show how big of a difference it is pitching in the AL and the NL.

Sour Mauer if he doesn't win the MVP.

im too lazy to read the whole thread or look up stats, but im pretty damn sure that victor martinez is somewhat comparable when it comes to offense plus he is versatile in that he is solid at 1B

By Martinez moving to 1st base it significantly reduces the quality of his numbers because there are so many more 1st basemen with comparable numbers than catchers. So the fact that he can play 1st is no advantage at all. And he is nowhere near the defensive catcher that Mauer is.
