Yeah but they’re just basic arse LTs at this point (I think). Theyre not even that yet until they graduate. They’re not exactly infantry officers yet right?

You could make the case that Infantry Lieutenants aren't even Infantry Officers until they complete their basic course and other associated training before arriving at their first assignment.

Aren’t they commissioned as 2nd LT on graduation?
They also don’t necessarily go into US Armed forces they can go into an Allies military on “loan”

I was enlisted so I’m definitely not well-versed on the O route. I’ll leave that to you as I believe you’re in that category and know better.

Yeah as far as I know (or Ensign if Navy). They’re just cadets/midshipmen now. And I say “just” as a qualifier. They’re way better people than I’ll ever be.
