Isn’t this the first time in over a decade that running the ball is better than passing? Too lazy to post link.
Basically - offenses need to be implementing more runs, but everything is so heavy pass.

People are romanticizing past QB play when the league has always been majority terrible quarterbacks and tons of busts.
The other funny part is the Shanny/McVay tree runs like fricking half (if not more) of offense in the NFL and those are all run-first offenses.
Even Indy runs a good bit.

Elite athlete with poor QB skills. He was the exact same guy in college. The NFL ignored it and thought they could turn him into a QB and they were wrong.
Josh Allen’s complete outlier development made teams think they could completely transform these tooled up athletes

You drunk?
Well I'll take Mahomes over anyone. He just finds a way to win. And THAT is what QB's are judged on.

It’s not an absolute necessity to have an elite QB to be a playoff/Super Bowl caliber team.
2000 Ravens
2001 Patriots
2002 Bucs
2005 Steelers
2006 Bears (lost SB)
2007 Giants
2009 Cardinals (lost SB)
2011 Giants
2015 Broncos
2020 49ers (lost SB)
2024 49ers (lost SB)
Honorable mentions:
Mid 2000s chargers (LT + Young Brees/Rivers)
2011/2012 Jets (Mark Sanchez back to back AFC championship appearances)

Yeah I’d say that 64-65 range in the NFL is likely a recipe for success.
Eli, Brady and a bunch of others were way below that in college

I don't understand how taking a snap from shotgun instead of under center is detrimental to QB development and play.

Burrow, Allen, Lamar, Goff, baker, Darnold, and Daniels are all playing very good football
Add Kirk Cousins to that list

Yeah the cause and effect on shotgun seems flimsy. You don’t even take the impact of playaction away, a pulled RPO is the same impact
How about modern offenses are just too damn complex? Unless you have a Shanahan guiding you through it and setting you up for success with playcalling, it’s a fricking hard position

The issue I see is the NFL over values quarter backs in the draft. Quarterbacks are being drafted way too high who have 2nd and 3rd round values

You should know better. They played in a very different era of offense. There’d be only a handful of QBs in the whole of the FBS with a completion percentage of at least 65. But for example when Richardson last played in 2022, there were 7 (almost 9) QBs with that percentage or higher in the SEC alone

Richardson was pumped up by the media and analysts because of his athleticism (which is very impressive), but they totally ignored the holes in his game

Not true. Elway pulled off incredible feats yet he couldn't overcome the lack of a running game or just an ok defense
Posted on 11/2/24 at 1:30 pm to RLDSC FAN
He is right but Richardson is a bad example. It was a joke that he was picked in the first 4 rounds let alone pick 4.

Greg Cosell, John Middlekauf, Michael Lombardi, etc..have been lamenting this for a while now.
Any casual fan can easily this, let alone game insiders.

It won't be long before we see an "innovative" coach re-invent the I formation.
