This is what the NFL wants? smh
Posted on 12/8/13 at 2:11 pm to hendersonshands
his knee looks fricked
Posted on 12/8/13 at 2:11 pm to hendersonshands
and that, children, is what happens when players can no longer hit up high.
Posted on 12/8/13 at 2:11 pm to hendersonshands
damn, hope it's not as bad as it looks.

Nice launch by that defender.
Goodell really fricked up the league with the high hits penalties.

Don't think the defender meant to injure him. Looks like he made a decision to not hit high in order to avoid the defenseless receiver penalty.

So if it is a torn ACL (which I hope it isn't as I own him in a keeper league) will that make him injury prone as he will be out most of next year as well?

the rules are now looking to be a horrendous knee jerk reaction to concussions. how did they not see this coming?
Posted on 12/8/13 at 2:14 pm to tduecen
He was already injury prone.
I love seeing him play, so I hope it isn't serious.

I don't think he meant to injure him, but he still launched himself. Oh well, at least the Red Sox won.

i guess they would prefer knee injuries to later life head trauma. the lesser of two evils

Well I thought so as well but some will argue against that on this board

I don't know if blowing out your knee on a hit like that proves anything other than ligaments are weak points on the human body.
Posted on 12/8/13 at 2:17 pm to filbert
That was the worst case scenario, hurt his knee and it looked to me like he may have gotten concussed.
Posted on 12/8/13 at 2:18 pm to filbert
I think the lawsuits that will say "rule changes caused the death of my career" will be just as serious. people are still getting concussions, so those lawsuits won't end. they've just compounded their problem.

All players launch themselves. That's football. You try to hit the other player as hard as you can to dislodge the ball.
Can't go high anymore, so naturally to make a tackle on someone the size of gronk, you have to take out the legs. That strategy is nothing new.
Making the game safer to avoid injuries is admirable. However, there has to be a simple understanding that there is in inherent risk of getting seriously injured when you play this game. To think you can form rules to make the game 100% safe is ludicrous. At that point, the game is no longer football.
