The Steinbrenners got out of paying the estate tax when George died in 2010. They’re going to get hit hard this time. I believe Steinbrenner paid something like $8 million for the team back in 73, so the estate tax is going probably going to be in the billions.

That’s insane to me

8 million is the equivalent to about $48.5 mill today. Still seems cheap for the Yankees

He bought them with investors for 8.8 million, they had an asking price of 10 million.

That’s insanely cheap
Considering they’d sell for over $5 billion today
But sports franchises weren’t what they were today.

That’s a pretty fair price for them
I definitely would have become a Mets fan if this deal went through. But I’ll be back to just being a neural fan in this sport and attend both teams games

I like games at Citi better but the scene outside of Yankee pregame is way more fun

Citi has a much better “family atmosphere” good place to eat and drink, hey a games going on too.
No one really cares
Yankee Stadium the stadium is built for the game
