The most overrated teams in the preseason AP and Coaches were:

#2/#3 Southern Cal (lost to Oregon St, barely beat a 2-4 Arizona State team)

#8 West Virginia (lost to ECU, Colorado)

#9 Clemson (now 1-3 in ACC)

#10/#11 Auburn (now 4-4)

#12/#13 Wisconsin (now 1-4 in Big Ten)

#15/#16 Ariz State (now 2-5 -- 1-3 in Pac10)

#15/#17 Virginia Tech (lost to ECU, BC, FSU)

#18 Tennessee (now 3-5 -- 1-4 in SEC)

#19/#20 South Florida (lost to Pitt, Louisville)

#19/#20 Illinois (now 4-4, 2-3 in Big10)

#23 Wake Forest (lost to Navy, Maryland, Miami)

#24 Michigan (now 2-6 -- 1-3 in Big10)

#25 Pitt (lost to Bowling Green, Rutgers)

Regardless, LSU could have a 9 or even 10 win season in a rebuilding year. The fan base knew it would be a challenge with the QB issues as well. Cant really equate that to most overrated when there are already teams with 4 or so losses who initially were ranked around the same number as LSU.

LSU was overrated but far from the most overrated.

So they aren't overrated in my eyes. They are exactly where I thought they would be.

I agree with you that 2 or 3 losses is not a bad season considering what LSU lost last season. However, when you say they are exactly where you thought they'd be, I bet you didn't see LSU giving up 100+ in those losses.

Well, in week 5, LSU was rated 2 & 3 in the AP and USAT polls. Then they started stinkin' it up like a can of tuna fish on a carburetor.

Clemson was like a Top 10 meteor that burned out in a couple of seconds.

I thought LSU didn't have to rebuild, only reload.

Call it what you want, but LSU will finish 11-2 in a "down" year.

Why is losing to two top ten teams so bad? One of whom out ranked LSU.
It's not like we lost to ULM or something.

Only because LSU and Florida took the foot off the pedal. It could have been worse for you cupcakes.

I think it's a toss-up between LSU and The Barn.

i would give a slight edge to Auburn b/c if i remember right they were overwhelming favorites to win the West, Tennessee might be in the discussion, i don't think people thought they would be NC contenders, but they had a 4th year QB and were expected to at least be contenders in the east

-Clemson
-Wisconsin
-WVU
-Auburn

Those are the clear cut top ones IMO. WVU is still a decent team, but playing so poorly in such a bad conference is unacceptable. Wisconsin had national title hopes and has stunk. Ditto for Clemson. Auburn is just a doormat.

I would say that the epitome of being overrated was starting the season at #3 and limping home at 3 - 8. Sorta like, say Bama in 2000.

You can make the point that LSU and Auburn may not have fufilled some people's expectations. That said, you come off looking pretty silly trying to smack on teams that you're a collective 0 - 11 in recent years.
