I’ll be devils advocate, but in basketball guys were drafted from high school and their physical differences were about the same. The NBA teams saw skill levels in guys like Lebron, Kobe, KG, and TMac that transcended where they physically were. Obviously those worked out.
I’m sure NFL teams could find similar skill in some positions and would rather have those guys under their control rather than under a college program

I like the baseball rules.
If the NFL had the minor/majors infrastructure that baseball has then maybe it could work, but realistically, every HS kid with the exception of one or two generational talents would be squad/roster bubble guys and get chewed up and spit out after 3-4 years.

I hear you but basketball is just different. It’s more common for elite basketball players to play high level talent in high school (through AAU and other leagues for example).
Elite football players in HS are mostly playing against kids who will never play football again. Jumping from that to the league is insane even for an elite prep star that “looks the part”.

Just argued with a guy that says yes they should but couldn’t give me a good reason when I said they’re not physically ready, etc like y’all are saying.
This guy is really a moron tho. I’ve known/worked with him for a while now.
You need new friends.

Kobe and KG and YMac weren't the players they became when they were 18. It took Kobe to year 4 or 5 to really mature physically.
And the difference is in basketball you may get pushed around and struggle, but you aren't going to get killed like you would in football

Should this be allowed? I personally think no that high school to the nfl shouldn’t happen and will never happen.
Give me some of y’all opinions.
Not the NFL but the XFL. That is a must to get some needed quality players.

There have been several 19 year olds drafted, including a former Tiger. There are tons of high school guys that are 19 when the draft occurs.
3, there have been 3.

Justin Jefferson is built like that and he’s pretty dominant.

While the nba and basketball is physical, it’s not nearly as physical as football or the nfl. Strength matters so much more in football and it just takes time to build strength.

Only if you’re Maurice Clarett, duh

Sure, this is Merica right? That a restriction on free enterprise and entering into a contract exists mostly only in football is bizarre..not global soccer, not MLB.
Let the marketplace determine if its prudent or fruitville.
MLB players get drafted all the time in high school and don't lose College eligibility.

The NFL has a free developmental program that they can get players from. Don’t need to worry about straight out of high school kids

No 18-19 year old kid could handle that at any position.
