Wow. So it’s racist that the best players just happen to be white? I didn’t even notice race until you brought it up honestly
None of the players in the pics were the best in those decades. Let’s be real.
Hell, Stockton wasn’t the best on his own team and Walton lol

He’s already better than everyone in that picture but Bird

Walton's look in the 70's is dope.
Posted on 8/23/20 at 10:13 pm to red sox fan 13

Posted on 8/23/20 at 10:28 pm to red sox fan 13
I don’t even know the 70s and 90s players
And is what accurate?
And is what accurate?

This. It’s because every player is white.

Harden much better.
Harden is a more efficient scorer at this point, but that’s about it. Luka can do everything Harden can, but Harden cannot do everything Luka can. Luka is going to be significantly better than Harden at every respective stage of their careers.
Harden is a great offensive talent taking advantage of analytics to maximize his efficiency. At the end of the day though he has huge holes in his game, most notably that his effectiveness is largely predicated on a certain style of officiating. Someone posted a chart on Twitter last year showing dramatic differences in his stats and efficiency depending on which officiating crew was involved in the game.

His prime spanned all of 18 months and he never averaged more than 18.9 PPG.
If not for the 1977 playoff run he’s not even a HOFer. He’s the NBA version of Joe Namath.

Eh the best crews Call the biggest games. It makes sense that he would be better in games officiated by the c or d level crews, bc he will he playing weaker teams. Correlation doesn’t equal causation.

Either him or Steve Nash was easily the best player of the decade

hardwns 3 yr peak bpm is third all time behind only lebron and Jordan. So you are saying luk will be better than both of those guys.
Luka has been the best NBA player ever at ages 19, 20 and 21 thus far, easily outpacing everyone but Lebron to this point who is the only real comparison. Even then, Lebron was 23 before his production and efficiency matched Luka right now.
Relative to every other player at a given age, Luka Doncic has literally been the best player EVER every step of the way to this point. It’s entirely believable he could eventually become the most well rounded offensive player in league history at his peak, which is likely at least 6-7 years away.

You are right he could, but he likely will never be as good as hardens peak. Which is greatest scoring season in our leagues history.

Who ever compared Stockton and Nash to Bird?
And Bird had to grow up and play in an era where everyone told him and us and society white people suck at basketball and as the black players on the Celtics admitted and Magic - hey lets see if you can do it against us...as Cedric Maxwell said, "I think you could say most black people at the time were racist. We didn't think you could find a white guy who was better than us."
Bird entered the NBA when it was probably 95% black. Late 70's NBA.
Even Bird said at the time, "I grew up and black players let me play with them and I always wanted to play against the best and at the time they were the best."
Luka grew up in Eastern Europe where they never had that fear or idea they couldn't play as good as black players. It was European basketball, Croats, Serbs, Slovenes, there wasn't this mental block that American kids were told to have in the 80's and 90's. Sorry kid, you're white, can't play...go hit the baseball...we ain't gonna recruit you for College.

I dunno about that. But Luka definitely belongs on the second floor.

Bird was the first 3x in a row MVP in NBA history.
Magic was a 2x MVP in the 80's.
Magic was the best player from 1987-1991 and then Michael took over but Bird was the best player in the 80's.
Don't rewrite history. From 1980-1986 before his back gave out, Bird was the best player in the NBA.

Bird grew up in an era where white players got zero respect and you were almost ashamed to try and play basketball.
European players never had that hang up because they didn't grow up with the stigma in America that White Men Can't Jump.
They just balled.
Drazen Petrovic, etc...it's no wonder that the teams that gave the US the most difficult battles in international competition were Eastern Europeans. They didn't kow-tow to prejudice and didn't grow up in an social world which discouraged them from playing because they were white. That's why the biggest white stars in the NBA the last 25 years were International guys...they didn't buy into we can't play while white players in America were basically told you can't play...maybe you can shoot a long ball 3 and that's about it.
