You're a fricking moron if you actually believe Manning did this.

The story definitely seems to be unraveling as false, but it would be pretty human for Peyton actually do this, and really I wouldn't blame him if he did it.

Surprised Adrian Peterson hasn't been mentioned yet. We all know how he recovered so quickly from a shattered knee.

Yeah, I don't get why taking a prescribed drug for its intended purpose would ever be questioned. It would be like calling out Jay Cutler for taking insulin.

What?

I don't think Manning, especially Peyton, would do anything that would not only tarnish his name, but his family name, and the game of football.

i do

because he has such a fanatical obsession with playing football at the highest level in NFL history

that fanaticism is almost always the reason why sports stars succeed and why, if presented with the option, go to the dark side

Fwiw, my comment isn't a Peyton Manning specific type thing.

But you take a guy who eats/sleeps/breathes football, and you tell him his career is very possibly over, or he can take HGH, which is pretty damn effective with little side effects, and it can revive his career, how is that so off the wall crazy to think a guy like Peyton Manning would take all necessary steps to prolong his career another 5 years or so? IT would be pretty human nature IMO.

Typically it takes an athlete 2 years to fully recover from an ACL injury. This guy shattered his knee and 8 months later looked better than ever.

Come on

yeah it's not like he was theoretically taking HGH to gain a competitive advantage in a game

this is like Kobe doing that regenerative knee treatment in Europe that is legal but illegal here (or at least was at the time)

I'd almost argue he'd be more likely to do it in that 2011 scenario than other, lesser players because of this.

And again, to reiterate, I'd have absolutely no issue with him doing it, whether it was against NFL policy or not, so i'm not saying that to slight him. If it was that or his career likely over, it's almost a no brainer to go for it IMO.

But again, this story doesn't seem to have legs, just speaking in hypotheticals here.

a full year these days is seen as a long recovery

Nothing wrong with a lil HGH.

It should be mandatory for the leauge. Especially with Thurs Night games now a standard

Not sure about mandatory, but I agree.

Maybe I don't know enough about it, but everything I read shows that benefits greatly outweigh the negative effects, especially when we're talking about recovery times.

I don't get why it's frowned upon.

But why would it be frowned upon? Recovering from an injury is a legitimate use of HGH. Using it to bulk up when you're not hurt is juicing.

Was Peyton tested during the time of alleged use?

I don't think the NFL tests for HGH, or probably didn't in 2011.

2 years to recover was typical in 1985 but not anymore. But even if it was and you could take something to get back faster and play as well as ever, why, exactly is that wrong? It is sad to me that in a so called free country and grown adult can not take what ever meds he wants for what ever reason he wants and really sad that so many are happy to grab the torches and pitchforks and nail the "cheaters".
