Here's the basic conspiracy theory: The NBA temporarily owns the Hornets and is trying to finalize a sale of the team to New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson.

The deal hasn't been finalized. NBA still controls the team. FTC only approved it 2 weeks ago. Final step is NBA board of governors.

quote:

To ensure they get top dollar (and the struggling franchise stays in New Orleans), David Stern and Co. fixed the lottery, giving the Hornets Anthony Davis — who is widely regarded as the best NBA prospect in years.

quote:

The reaction of several league executives was part disgust, part resignation on Wednesday night. So many had predicted this happening, so many suspected that somehow, someway, the Hornets would walk away with Davis. That's the worst part for the NBA; these aren't the railings from the guy sitting at the corner tavern, but the belief of those working within the machinery that something undue happened here, that they suspect it happens all the time under Stern.

Washington 19.9%
Cleveland 13.8%
Hornets 13.7%

If the picks had went in this order, then no one could have said it was rigged. When the team with worst odds out of the top 4 teams wins it, then you can say it is rigged.

25% chance of winning means 75% chance of losing genius. The lottery was rigged against the worst team, but that's by design.

And a 13% chance of winning means an 87% chance of failing.

Your argument is invalid.

When Ray Allen misses a free throws, is it a conspiracy?

Wasn't the Yao lottery live? They should just make it live so no one has to question it... Untill then there will always be that what if.

Weren't the GMs or team reps present for the drawing? Jeff Duncan tweeted that someone in the Hornets front office was present and knew 1 hour in advance.

Agreed...I think eveyone Ive talked to believe there was something funny with the 85 lottery. There used to be a real intersting vid on youtube of Stern picking the Knicks envelope

Just do away with the the lottery. Worst picks First from now on...just like all the other leagues

Look at lottery history. If anything is suspect it's that 1, 2, and 3b are picking top 3. It's quite common for a later pick to jump into the top 3. I think draft slot #2 has picked top 3 just once in the last 7 or 8 years.

Benson put down an extremely large deposit. Just like any sale there are formalities. Its a done deal and was done weeks ago. Just i's to dot and t's to cross.

You are a dumb motherfricker.

read up, idiot

Sounds pretty hard to me to rig those circumstances. Either that or the website was paid off to write all these lies. Obviously the NBA would better benefit from giving the already purchased Hornets #1 over a team like the Nets who could use it to keep D Will and draw fan interest.

I wouldn't expect anyone that is a fan of the hornets or New Orleans in general to be rational at all about it. As upset as you guys are getting is funny as hell especially considering that the majority of America agrees with me. LINK

quote:

So 82 percent of the public think there’s at least a chance it was rigged, and 54 percent are adamant about it.

USA TODAY POLL

Do you think the NBA Lottery was fixed?

No. We need to stop that talk right now
18%
Of course it was. NBA wasn't even sly about it
54%
Don't know. But I could believe it
28%

Here is what some NBA players also said about it:
LINK

Another poll for you: LINK

Do you think the Draft Lottery was rigged?
Yes 78.40%
No 21.60%

That's all

I read it. I especially like this part:

quote:

The machine then spit out another Hornets combination, which the league discarded.

So, the Hornets actually won not once but twice in the first 3 draws with a 13% chance?
