In addition to the tangible skills, I also think Lebron is a better leader and has a higher basketball IQ, so I'd take him without a ton of consideration.

I actually give Curry the nod in "intangible qualities". He has the ability to mentally defeat teams. The scoring runs, and the speed of the run, is the most incredible thing to me. His run in the last minute of 1st half and start of the 3rd literally knocked OKC out last night. OKC played nearly perfect basketball for 28 minutes, and saw a 13 point lead go to a 5 point deficit in the blink of an eye. And the crazy thing is, every time you watch a GS game and they are trailing, you are anticipating Curry going god-mode.

That's the shite you can't quantify in a box score.

Than Rose was? Are you forgetting Rose won MVP that season? He was a freak at getting to the rim

The East won the NBA title in 2006 with the Heat

So tell me again how it was garbage in 2007?

Your argument about 2007 was telling me all this irrelevant stuff in year's past?

He didn't guard him a whole game, ever. Several guys guarded him. Lebron did in crunch time and shut him down. That's the best example of Lebron being a super elite defender because he was great.

Because the East was not garbage at all in 2007. That was an elite Pistons team

I think the leader thing is arguable, but in no way can you say Lebron has a higher basketball IQ than Curry IMO.

I am not forgetting any of that. IMO Russell Westbrook is even more athletic than prime Rose was.

You do realize I am not knocking Lebron at all in this thread, right? So you don't have to leap in and try to defend him with me.

Exactly.

DOES HE NOT REMEMBER??

He somehow thinks me saying that anybody would struggle to keep up with RW the whole game is a slight to Lebron.

Dude, you are just arguing to argue now. The East was weak AF in 07. Detroit was an aging team. They only won 53 games that year. The Cavs were the only other team to win 50 games. The Raptors were the 3rd seed...google their roster, they were garbo and lost to the Nets who were a .500 team.

I'll always give Lebron props for putting that team on his back against Detroit, but that Pistons team was clearly on the decline and the rest of the East sucked. 07 Finals is one of the worst of all time.

For me, there's two different ways to handle the argument.

1) One vs one. I'll take Lebron just b/c of the all around game. You put either on a shitty team and they aren't winning a title.

2) Peak vs Peak with a championship supporting cast. That's where I take Curry.

I mean, it's such a subjective thing, but Lebron has been hailed as one a hoops IQ that is up there alongside any of the greats, so I'm not sure that could be a definitive point in Curry's favor.

Then there's all the examples of players and coaches talking about Lebron in timeouts telling coaches a team is going to run some play it ran in the same spot 5 seasons ago, and being right. I'm sure Curry may have little things too, but from all indications, Lebron's a bit of a basketball savant. Not by my take, from what I've read of other players and coaches talking about him.

top 4 teams in west totaled 237 wins
top 4 teams in east totaled 194 wins

east gets swept in finals

your elite pistons would have barely been 4 seed in west (that's using their east weak arse schedule too)

2007 east fricking retarded weak.

In 2004, the year the Pistons won the NBA title, they would have been a 3 seed in the west. Your point?

FWIW, I'm not trying to say that Lebron's IQ can't hang with Curry's. Not at all. But you can't do some of the things Curry does and not have an outstanding concept of basketball and a fantastic bball IQ. I think Lebron has a BRILLIANT bball IQ. I just think that Curry does as well, and saying that Lebron's is better isn't something I agree with. That's all.

meh. Defense fluctuates from year to year. The defense step played last year, statistically, falls in line with how well lebron generally plays. Now, lebron is definitely the better defensive player, but to the point where I can just shrug off stephs offense? I don't know
