They needed OT to beat an awful Arizona team. I wouldn't crown them yet.

Really they could beat ranked Stanford then turn around and lose to Northern Idaho Tech. It's like Navy where you can either handle their crazy offense or you can't, doesn't even matter how talented you are

To be fair, almost every other team would struggle with those 2 as well. Bama, OSU, Clemson are a cut above everyone else IMO.
True, and that's why I initially said they could get annihilated if they reached the playoff.

I'd throw Louisville and Michigan in that group, too.

They lost the season opener to Portland State last year, but still quietly won 9 games. Just like he did in Lubbock, Leach has turned an afterthought program into a potential pain in the arse.

Washington IMO is what Norte dame was last year good but get arse beat by elite

They should be punished severely for their schedule if someone steps up from a good conference. They won't jump Louisville or a non-Bama SEC champ. Or a one loss Clemson. Wazzu, Utah, ASU, or USC will knock them off.

It's not like the ACC is a killer league to plow through. SEC has its share of lightweights as well- certainly more than usual.
Washington would beat Louisville. They may not be Alabama, but aren't Michigan State either.
Massive school, top tier public university, flush with resources, in the middle of a great city, with a great coach. They'll be around for a while.

I hate to disagree with a fellow White Sox fan, but I can't point to a single reason why Washington would definitely beat Louisville.
The school, its resources and its city also haven't meant much since Neuheisel was canned.
Like I said, I think Petersen will make them relevant again, but what's his most impressive win at U Dub so far? Stanford last week? Wazzu is beating the living hell out of them right now.

Idk if i should be sold on them. I had Standord finishig top 10 just outside the playoffs. So after last week I was sure UW was legit. This week they demolished the worst Oregon team in the last 10 years... Meanwhile their only quality win is getting demolished by a mediocre team.. Im not sure what to believe or expect.

Motherfrickers will come to respect Chris Peterson soon enough.

I work in an office full of Washington grads. It's getting more and more unbearable by the week.
But they are a good team. I expected this. What's scary is that they are still a young team. They don't lose much after this year or next. If Browning stays they will be preseason #1 in 2018. Shoe in for preseason Top 3 next year.
They have a whole gang of juniors who could leave though
all 3 DTs
both LBs
Sidney Jones(CB) and Budda Baker(FS) are 2nd round picks at worst
and there best player the WR Ross
if they bring back all of them along with 3/5 OL and the best QB/RB combo in nation its a wrap for college football next year

It will be interesting to see how many guys leave early. The general consensus before the season were that Qualls (DT), Victor (LB), Jones (CB), and Baker (S) were all going to NFL after the season. I think the only other guys that could join them would be Ross (WR), Gaines (DT), and Vea (DT). Gaines and Vea stay though, imo. I think the other 5 leave.

They're not as flashy of an offense as I think a causal fan may assume. If you watch their offense they just execute simple concepts and challenge you to out-discipline them. Simple timing routes, easy zone coverage passing concepts, great o-line blocking.
On D, imo they're honestly similar to the Seahawks in the same city in that they don't audible plays to offensive configurations, esp in no huddle they just adjust alignments and play disciplined.
The most under-appreciated from a national perspective is Jake Browning. He runs the offense and in the next couple of weeks will be heaped with the hype he should have already earned.
The Dawgs definitely have the talent to be a playoff team. Beyond that, who knows in any one game matchup... Could argue a heads up matchup against anyone but bama... Think bama dline would prove superior to UW oline but could go either way in most every other position matchup I think, but if have to go with bama in a direct comparison

I know Tim Brando was saying look out for Washington all off-season, so some people definitely saw it coming. I believe he had them winning the PAC and making playoff.
Still a ton of season though

not sure why browning is not getting any Heisman hype yet. I believe he should be thrown in the conversation every now and then.
