Steve he had a coach come tell him he witnessed sandusky banging a little boy in the shower. A man he went on to hire as a full time coach. So, if Joe were lead to believe the allegations turned out to be false why would he hire a guy who would lie about something like that?

Joe isn't the worst villain in this story, but he's still one of them. Quit trying to defend him.

I turned ESPN off this morning ... Now he died of a broken heart .. "they" took his life from him ... enough of this sugar coating .. then again, I guess everyone gets a temporary hall pass and are cleansed for a short time in death ... I recognize what he did has a coach, but lost respect for him as a responsible person ... Joe Pa did leave us with one lesson .. no matter how accomplished we are, no matter how virtuous we live our lives .. one stupid decision can erase it all in the eyes of those that judge us ...

I also LOL at the people who say he reported it to his "superiors" Joe was the dictator in that little town and had the ultimate say.

Obviously not the "ultimate say" or he never would have been fired

It appears that those who post RIP clearly value a football legacy over moral shortcomings involving children.

I have tremendous empathy for his family, if they didn't know about this as well.

As far as "the man" goes, there is none.

They had no choice this last time, obviously. I mean it only took a pedophile cover up to remove him.....

But they tried to oust him before unsuccessfully

what did he fail to fully report? Just curious because I really don't know.

OK,,how about all he did was report it to the University ,, not law enforcement the DA's office and don't give me bullshite about Penn State Police dept,, we all know University police job is to protect the student and the Univ.. not enforce law,,

shite,,University police catch under aged drinking all the time and just sent the kids to the dorm,, thats not law enforcement

Paterno knew of allegations that a coach was MOLESTING/RAPING little boys,, I would think that warrants a follow up or a phone call to the dist attorney, state police,, someone that he KNEW would act, not cover up

don't know either way. I'm just saying that there are a lot of questions that are unanswered. The biggest failure was not keeping Sandusky away from the facilities, especially if children would be present, until the investigation was complete. Even JoePa admits he should have done more. Still, some people assume as fact that JoePa knew what happened and should have assumed the role of lead detectiven and DA on the case. I don't get the massive amount of hate.

Cancer only helped speed up the real cause of death. He died a broken man and should have!! They took his will to live when they fired him from PSU. I am not a JoePa fan and believed he should have been indicted with all who had knowledge and conspired to keep this scandal a secret!! With that said and as a Human Being I also say RIP!!
