Les was also the only division 1 school to offer the Honey Badger, say what you will about Les but he was a great judge of talent.

this is 10000% false.

I know for a fact he had a Tennessee offer among many others

to be fair, Chase would have been wasted at WR under Les Miles

I agree. That offense in 2019 would have never happened under Miles

The way the story reads with Chase’s comments indicate he may have never become the player he is today without Miles telling him that.

Loved that he used that as motivation.

But in Les' defense, we didn't really use our Wideouts while he was here. We loved to throw incomplete passes on 3rd down and punt it.

Miles knew he was talented and that putting him on D would showcase his talents instead of wasting him blocking and running routes for passes we can't complete on 3rd down.

Just sayin

Les is a running coach, he would probably put Chase at tailback and make a star out of him.

Like Reggie Bush or somesuch

It is amazing how he was overlooked during his recruitment. I was reading that he played RB and CB during his first two years in High School. He had damn good numbers playing WR, CB and RB in HS. I don’t like South Carolina but I always liked the way he played.

Another piece of context missing here is that Les probably told Chase this back when he was a sophomore in HS. From what I’ve read, there were question marks about Chase’s catching ability/hands even through his freshman year at LSU.

It was a question in the preseason with the Bengals

That's because Les wasn't going to throw the ball and didn't want to waste his talent on offense

Maybe Les was right at the time, and the hard work paid huge dividends.
