A reputation of winning championships?

Was there better talent around the Lake Area in the 2000’s? I was too young to remember the good McNeese teams. Most of the high school talent in the state is centered around New Orleans or up north. Once you couple that with the plethora or FBS and FCS colleges in La and Tx, I’d choose those places over Lake Charles.
No, but in the 90s, McNeese could win in state recruiting battles with ULL, La Tech, and ULM. With the increase of revenue those guys have gotten in the last 20 or so years, they have improved their facilities and blow McNeese away. They aren’t winning those recruiting battles today. They have no shot.

Schroyer def comes off as a douche but he did get Will here.

This!!! Lamar and MSU will both be .500 at best every year because both schools are now splitting a limited talent pool!!!

Yeah once Lamar started football they pulled a bunch of East Texas kids b
And it's not just Lamar. Sam Houston State, SW Tx St, Texas State, Incarnate World, and al the other programs from TX who were dogshit in 1AA but then invested and used the Southland to jump into 1A. McNeese, as funny as it sounds, used to be the big dog in that tier from Houston to LC.

I suspect Goff will be fired this week before signing day coming up. He was brought here with the promise of a passing, high scoring offense. That sure hasn't happened. His quarterbacks have been terrible. Time to move on if they can find the money. Maybe Wade can help the new football coach recruit, lol.

Schroyer is expected to be looking for a coach with ties to the McNeese program this time around. There are several possibilities with names such as Slade Nagle, Kerry Joseph, and Tim Leger likely at the top of the list.
One of these names is not like the other.
I have to imagine it's Leger's job to lose, IF he wants it.

I'm 40, so I watched all these guys play for McNeese.
As for my email, I waited till Sunday afternoon when I had cooled off enough to be civil about it. Worst thing I mentioned was I'd hate for McNeese to develop a "University of Miami" reputation.

Rise in SLU's football program directly coincides with the death of the McNeese program. November 2, 2013 was the day that the new kings of Louisiana FCS football were crowned.

Based off of where those guys are and what they are currently making, all three seem like pipe dreams. Even Leger as an OC at ULL would be taking a six figure haircut to be the HC at McNeese. The other two would be taking over a 50% paycut.

Multiple fights throughout the game with multiple ejections. Then big fight with cops separating the teams at the end. Been like this all season and nothing has been done about it.
I am currently embarrassed to be an alumni of McNeese State University.
Family all lives in LC and honestly the way things are conducted in that parish this team kind of mimics the society it's a part of.
I had the chance to live there for over a decade and while the people present great it's an extremely flawed place.
If you've been around the country at all, you know exactly what I am saying. This place just always seems like its in a rut.

I was too young to remember the early Kessler days at mcneese but know a lot of those coaches personal that were on staff. I hear nothing but great stories, how if you were a high school recruit you basically chose Lsu or Mcneese for in state.

Transfers are different now. In the past, FBS transfers could only transfer to FCS to play immediately. That is no longer the case. It makes getting the better players harder. You can’t run spread offenses if you don’t have the QB to throw it. QBs that can throw will go to one of the many FBS schools that can pay them. Have to run your offense to talent that is available. A lot of smaller class high schools in LA run wing T and have running QBs. McNeese should change to a triple option team and recruit those players. It is not pretty but it has been successful. Ga Southern built championship teams like this, Kennesaw St built their program doing this (prior to stupidly moving to FBS).

Both of your posts are reminiscent of teams over two decades ago.
Adapt or die.
Currently, if McNeese does what the fans want, they’ll die.

I think Desormeaux is still calling the plays at ULL. I’m not sure if Lege would be the best fit.
