I used to be one of the "we have to compete in FCS before moving to FBS" fans. All the above points about recruiting, transferring, NIL, etc. are reasons that I'd now love to see us in FBS as soon as possible.

Another thing that makes getting better players harder is the huge gap in the Southland and major college football. Kerry Joseph was a QB at McNeese and went on to play four seasons in the NFL as a safety. Joseph could have played safety in the SEC but chose McNeese to play QB. There were few guys that McNeese got that were offered by big schools but went to McNeese because they didn't want to switch positions. That's not happening today. There's zero chance a kid is going to choose McNeese over an SEC offer because he doesn't want to switch from offense to defense or vice versa.

The application fee to move up to FBS from FCS increased from $5,000 to $5,000,000 in 2023. Good luck with that.

Not reminiscent, successful. Kennesaw St had 45 wins from 2017-2019 and 2021. 2020 was the Covid season and only played 5 games(4-1). The successful Dakota teams run the ball and play good defense. That will win championships. Lindsey Scott at Nichols or Cole Kelly at SLU will not come around any longer with easy FBS transfers and NIL money.
As far adaption, I doubt McNeese has much NIL money, unless Will Wade wants to share his budget

At least you didn’t go to Northwestern st. Where we’ve lost 20 games straight. We wouldn’t even be able to win the Division 3 level

Laird couldn’t coach from the start. Check his Ruston record. Hell Natchitoches Central Football has two D1-AA ex head coaches and can only win 2 games.
