Too small?

He's 6'5" 260...

For reference Dwight Freeney is 6'1" 270 (current weight, not college..)

It shouldn't be that surprising. Bruce Irvin had similar measurables and the same number of sacks last year and was drafted 15th overall.

..and Irvin has TONS of baggage.

Mingo will be Top 10 next year.

On what planet is he 260? LSU has him listed as 240 and usually schools embellish a little on their roster height/wt.

It will be interesting to see where Dion Jordan lands. He is in the mold of Mingo listed at 6'7" 241 at drop end. His measurables in the vertical and broad jump should be elite as well.

Mingo is less raw though. Jordan started out at TE and switched his redshirt sophmore year. Last year he ended up All Pac - 10 as a Junior.

I was wondering what they would do with Jordan in the NFL (OLB in 3-4) but seeing draft "experts" placing Mingo that high, I could see Jordan being a 2nd rounder.

The last mock draft I saw had him at 250 and Sam at 255, so no.. I didn't go check LSU's official site.

And considering the draft is a year away, I really didn't consider it a stretch to say he'd add 10 lbs. but if he is in fact 240 now, I would not be surprised at all if he was 250 for the combine/draft.

Mingo has been the same weight for 2 years now. I doubt he is going to want to start bulking up.

Mingo dropped to 227 during the season this year. He has trouble keeping weight. He's not close to 260

That is pretty common. Beat writers remind us all the time that we would be surprised at how much these guys drop. He is not going be playing with his hands down in the NFL. The guy will be an OLB. No need to make him into what he's not.

He'll probably put on whatever weight he needs to put on in order to please coaches, scouts, etc, at the combine. Then he'll just drop down and play at whatever weight is comfortable to him

i could see sonic sam dropping into the 2nd/3rd if he doesn't run well and doesn't fit a traditional 4-3 (height)

What does this mean? That he is too short?

and

I see Mingo as a Jason Taylor type player.

He's too light and has a small waist so may not be able to add more bulk.
