I don't think the pieces targeted by the Marlins are ridiculous for Realmuto in a vacuum. But nearly all of the contracts at issue are inequitable.
Agree, they’d be very dumb not to ask for the world currently though. He’s the most valuable catching commodity available

I think they’re trying to not make the same mistake they did last offseason when they messed up the Yelich and Ozuna trades. Realmuto will get moved but probably not at the asking price the Marlins want right now.

For sure, their objectives just aren't that clear IMO. Swapping 2 years of Realmuto for 4 years of similar caliber player would be a huge get, obviously, but it's not going to do much to change the trajectory of the Marlins unless the subsequent goal is to swap that player and that contract for a couple of very solid everyday players or multiple very high level prospects.

Am I the only degenerate listening to the Rule 5 draft right now?

In exchange for Edwin Encarnacion, Carlos Santana is expected to go to the Cleveland Indians, sources tell Yahoo Sports.
OK then

Encarnacion to #Mariners, Carlos Santana to #Indians in three-team trade, sources tell The Athletic. #Rays also involved, getting player from CLE. First:

That one year out of Cleveland must have been so nice for him

Rays were also part of that deal. Yandy Diaz goes to TB, Jake Bauers to Cleveland.

E5 now headed to the Rays...

I’ve seen reports that Encarnacion will be flipped to Tampa in a separate deal

Sounds like he will be, as part of a seattle/A's 3 way deal

@TBTimes_Rays One more time, to further clarify, have been told by multiple people there is no deal current, in place or lined up to bring Encarnacion to #Rays

Rumor that people are going with on a reds board is that the Dodgers, Reds, and Marlins agreed to a three way swap where both reds and dodger prospects were going to miami, puig and wood going to cincy, realmuto ro the Dodgers but michael hill backed out at the last second after the framework was agreed upon
That would have been something

Kinsler to Padres at 2/8 with option.
2B market bottoming out. Buy buy buy.

Yonder Alonso goes to #Whitesox from #lClevelamd, as @Ken_Rosenthal first reported. Certainly it helps in recruiting Manny Machado, who is his brother in law

Alonso, Abreu, Palka
That's a lot of 1B/DH dudes on the South Side.
After moving Alonso I bet the Indians keep all their SP now.

So for Harper the leaders seem to be between Phillies/Dodgers and Machado is Phillies/Yankees?
Posted on 12/16/18 at 1:05 pm to 5 Deep
That's seems to be the idea. But even with the Dodgers and harper it seems to be dependent on whether or not the Dodgers can move some pieces and if Harper decides he only wants 5 years or so. Which is whatever
