Phillies projected lineup with Harper and 2018 stats:
SS Segura: .303/.341 29 2B 10HR 63RBI 20SB
LF McCutchen: .255/.368 30 2B 20HR 65RBI 95BB
RF Harper: .249/.393 34 2B 34HR 100RBI 100BB
1B Hoskins: .246/.354 38 2B 34HR 96RBI 87BB
C Realmuto: .277/.340 30 2B 21HR 77RBI
2B Hernandez: .253/.356 15 60RBI
CF Herrera: .255/.310 22HR 71RBI
3B Franco: .270/.314 22HR 68RBI
A lot of pop and on base in that lineup but their area of weakness may be the strikeout.
Harper 169
Hernandez 155
Hoskins 150
Cutch 145
Herrera 122
Realmuto 100

That's true. And it may be an anomaly but in recent years, the World Series winners have been teams on the lower end of the strikeout totals.
2015 Royals: fewest
2017 Astros: fewest
2018 Red Sox: 4th fewest
That's not much to support the idea and the 2016 Cubs were middle of the pack. But if you take into consideration the idea that pitching typically has the advantage in the post season, then you'd think the batting advantage would also go to the team with superior contact skills.

Segura at the top is going to help tremendously, if like to see Harper hit #2 in that lineup just to put pressure on the pitcher.

Adeiny Hechavarria is trading boroughs.
The solid infielder, whom the Yankees traded for just before last season’s Sept. 1 deadline, signed a minor league deal with the Mets on Sunday, The Post confirmed. Hechavarria will get an invitation to major league camp, where he’ll try to win a job in a crowded infield.
Things moving today on the FA market

Like the deal a lot. Sucks that Moose keeps getting these 1 year deals. No idea if the Angels were serious on getting him but if they weren't, I find that kind of embarrassing.

He lost a lot of money though, didn't the Royals offer him a 4 year 60 million deal or something like that?

Bryce Harper, who has been waiting for someone to meet his price, appears to have found that team in the #Phillies. There is no deal yet but he will ultimately receive more than the 10-year, $300 million contract he turned down from the #Nats in September.
-Nightengale so take it FWIW
All signs pointing that way though

Also if/when it becomes official, WCA I recommend changing thread title to ”Harper signs deal to play in pinstripes for next 10 years”

When the Boston Red Sox visit the White House on May 9 to celebrate their 2018 World Series championship, J.D. Martinez will be there.
Multiple Red Sox players, including Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr., already have announced they won’t be joining the team in Washington D.C. But Martinez will make the trip, and he sounds excited about the opportunity.
“I believe it’s an honor to go,” Martinez said Sunday during a press conference at Fenway South. ” … That’s our capital, that’s the White House. Not a lot of people get to go there.
“I’m excited about it.”

It’s crazy to think Moustakas could only get a one year deal 2 years in a row.

What’s really mind blowing is that Moose’s old teammate Eric Hosmer got an 8 year $144 million contract last year. I agree that Moose isn’t that great, but Hosmer really is no better. If the Padres could put that money towards Machado (or Harper) with their farm system, they would be interesting.

That Eric Hosmer contract is going to end of as one of the worst ever alongside Chris Davis, BJ Upton, and Ryan Howard.
Justin Smoak is at the last year of a 3 year 16.5 million deal. Thats about what Hosmer is worth.

He’s still good enough to get better than a one year deal.
