Would be great for the Phillies reloading stage. Shed Lee and Pence's salary. An aging team, they also get younger and promising talent throughout the OF. Upton/Pollack or Eaton/Brown... or whomever they can pry away after the move Victorino. There's also interest for Pierre on the market so he could possibly net them something decent too.

A change of scenery for Pence could serve him well. Though hardly sexy, he's always been a good player. It also gives the D-Back the ace they're supposedly looking for.

This is just fricking fantastic. Sabean sitting there with his hands tied while the Dodgers are building an all-world team.

Hanley, League, Dempster, Victorino .. to go along with Kemp, Ethier, Kershaw.

Yankees of the West!!!

Dodgers must really be desperate, eh?

AVG HR RBI OBP
.261 9 40 .324

It's good to see the Pirates making deals and being competitive. They were my team as a kid.

The way Norris has pitched this season, he wouldn't be an upgrade for the Cards rotation, imo

Texas and Yankees getting in on Dempster. Can't post link from phone, but it's on twitter.

24 stolen bases already

they're also upgrading their OF defensively with Victorino

speed and defense are must-haves if you're a team that wants to win a playoff series. Phillies are looking to rape somebody though in a deal. he's not worth close to what they're asking.

@JonHeymanCBS: assuming #dodgers complete victorino deal, that'd end the soriano talk with #cubs. leadoff is more of a need for LA anyway

Desperate? Victorino is solid. He's won before and is a good clubhouse presence. Plays a gold glove CF. Has 24 SBs. He will fit perfect in the leadoff spot of LA

Baseball sources have confirmed to me that three teams are in play for Ryan Dempster and he will approve a deal to any of the three teams if the Cubs can agree on a suitable return in exchange for the veteran right-hander who is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career. The Los Angeles Dodgers, who have long been Dempster's preferred destination will have to increase their offer as the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees have stepped up their pursuit over the last 48 hours. With Roy Oswalt having another poor performance on Monday evening, the Rangers have decided to upgrade their rotation and are looking at all available options including Dempster and Matt Garza.

My favorite move thus far is the Pirates move to get Travis Snider from Toronto. Snider is only 24, but he's just what the Pirates were looking for and they only give up Brad Lincoln.

Yes he is fast and plays an above average CF, but his OBP is not really what I'm looking for from the leadoff spot.

Agreed. That's a great baseball move right there. Lincoln is replaceable.

I see Snider as a potential 30/90/.260 guy
