Gretzky.

For those who say he was simply more skilled, it undersells it.

Its like the physical dominance and coordination difference when a good HS player takes on a group of elementary school kids. Yes, there's a skill difference, but it verges into a form of physical dominance as well. It was just that pronounced.

I’m no fan of Lebron but he would probably be dominant in football if he had chosen that path.

He was arguably the best HS football player in Ohio as a freshman.

Bo split carries with Marcus Allen and never played more than 11 games due to splitting time with baseball.

He had 5.4 YPC jumping in midseason from baseball. He also had the longest TD run in the league in 3 of 4 years.

Hell, there's only like 3-4 people to play 2 pro sports in the semi-modern era.

Do you think he was overrated as an athlete? He split time between the NFL and MLB and played at an elite level in both. He only played in the NFL when the MLB season was over. He made the Pro Bowl while only playing about half the season every year. Hell, his career ending injury was in part caused by him being too fast and strong for his own body.

Football:
Heisman winner
1st overall pick in NFL Draft by Tampa Bay but refused to sign. Sat out the NFL season to play in the MLB. He was still drafted by the Raiders the next year even though he wouldn’t commit to the NFL full-time.
Pro Bowler in 1990

Baseball:
Drafted in the 4th round of the MLB draft even though he had to sit out the previous collegiate season.
Made All-Star game and was offensive and defensive MVP of the game.

Yeah Trent Richardson was better...

ETA: Forgot to add his most dominant performance. Greatest player in video game history. Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl cements him as the greatest athlete ever.

Why not do stats per game or stats per 40? Oh that’s right, because MJ would lead in the points and steals.

Also, what’s that last line say? It’s kind of blurry

Statistically Peej is 100% correct.

They were SO much better than everyone else in the league.

Ruth hit more homeruns in 1927 than any of the other 7 American League teams.

In 1985, Gretzky won the points leader by assists ALONE and by 22 points over 2nd place total points, Mario Lemieux.

Gretzky had 3 consecutive 200 point seasons. In the last 20 years the highest point total of any Art Ross Trophy winner was 128 points last year.

Gretzky scored 50 goals in 39 games.

Over the last 3 years only 6 players have scored 50 goals in 82 games.

MJ: 33/6/6 with 2 steals 1 block. 3 TOV. 42 MPG

Lebron: 29/9/7 with 2 steals 1 block. 3.6 TOV. 42 MPG

Jim Brown was the size of most centers, guards and Linebackers of his era...

Imagine a 300 pound running back today that could run 4.4 or a 4.5 40...

and catch passes, make people miss and pass block..

he was a skilled safety at that size in college..

If the discussion is purely how physically gifted it has to be Lebron. I think he’s an egomaniac that believes he’s way more important to the non sports world than he really is BUT his combination of size, speed and coordination for so long are basically unmatched.
