A little off topic, but why did/do so many of the AFL/AFC teams have white helmets?

Texans unis are totally generic and unimaginative compared to most other teams in the league.
Phillies throw back green jerseys from this past week were sweet. Wish they would use those more often.

Truth. Oh but didnt you hear? Carmelo says its Houston or bust - no other city can handle the Carmelo Anthony show! Unless you have over 300 Chili's in your metro area your city is not a top 3 market.

You don't have to have obnoxious unis like Oregon to not be boring. For example, the Raiders. I do agree with the OP, I like the Texans white unis in general, with white pants or even the white jersey's with blue pants looks sharp. oh i see, they didn't use what ever color some focus group said was "cool" at the time, like aqua or teal blue in the 90's or black.
Look at the expansion teams in the 4 major sports from the late 80's thru the 90's all had 1 or both of thos colors, that's imaginative right?

any that don't have the broad side stripes on the shirts/pants. I like more a more solid color uniform.

Jets and Colts present uni's are the best. Patriots, Oilers and Chargers' throwbacks as well. And the ones the Saints wore against Tampa on Sunday night about 7 years ago.

Well what I am referring to in my original post is the Texans white on white. The striping on the white pants looks good, the blue stripes on the shoulders look good, and I like the blue collar. I think a lot of teams pull this "road" look well: Cleveland, Chicago, and St Louis with the white pants. Even Washington does the white on white with colored helmet with class, although their gold pants they wore against my Boys were beautiful to behold. I just think Houston blends tradition with the modern look well. I'm not a fan of the blue pants, and Ioathe the "all reds".

my FAVORITE uniform in the NFL...no homer
I love how the Saints have no significant stripes/piping on their jerseys...makes them look so much cleaner
