The funny thing is that Ali could have gone the Elvis route, or the reserves or something similar and avoided the controversy. Instead, he was up front about it. Respect, honestly. He gave up a lot.

it's funny that you are arguing he should have had those freedoms removed taken away from him by being imprisoned for 'treason,' ie, speaking his mind about a horrible, pointless war and practicing his religion. Please go walk in traffic and remove yourself from the gene pool.

You are talking about a guy who spent most of his formative years not being allowed to piss in the same trough as a white man and likely both lived through and watched those he loved go through unspeakable things...and your argument is "hey, at least he didn't grow up in some third world country".
