Their sponsors will drop em whenever the people stop tuning in. So either way, they’re fricked.

Ratings were up 104% last night from last year's comparable race

If any driver quit because they wouldn't ban the flag, you would mock them relentlessly.

Good thing Bubba didn't quit, dug in his heels and got some real change done in his sport.

Indy and Pocono are both independently owned.

Indy is owned by Roger Penske, and he's already said he's not going to allow the flag at his events. Pocono is in the middle of PA - they won't allow it either.

I seriously don't get how this is the line that the hillbilly fans are drawing in the sand. Must be miserable to hang on to 150 years of pride in losing a war.

They claim pride in heritage, a heritage and society that would not have existed and thrived without slave labor.

The same amount being played for the comparable race last year, try again!

ETA: Actually this year it was competing with AEW and NXT, which while not really sports you can certainly argue wrestling is competition for NASCAR. So it actually had more competition and still increased by 104%

Maybe he wanted more money than he was worth or to be a starter when he wasn't starter quality any more, but he didn't just announce he was quitting and walk away.

He demanded an unreasonable contract knowing damn well no one would pay it so he could go on with his blackball bullshite. It's the same reason why he made a mockery out of that workout last year. He quit playing without officially announcing it.

He didn't announce it but its exactly what he did

Gotta love ppl defending what this guy did

He would be on a team competing for the starting job if he really wanted it

That's not quitting.

Also, he'd agreed to terms with the Ravens as a backup before his girlfriend killed the deal with a negative tweet about the Ravens.

Instead, he just straight up quits.

Can't be cancelled if you quit It honestly takes some level of integrity to quit before running your sponsors through the ringer... and then they have to fire you. 0 chance he could've voiced dissent in this situation and not been mobbed by cancel culture.

And just because it didn’t have any competition last year as you say, doesn’t mean shite to me as people are starved for sports right now and will get them wherever they can.

People will never choose nascar over baseball, basketball, football, golf, or hockey. At least not in any meaningful numbers.

This was done intentionally, IMO. He wanted to be able to show that he would accept a backup contract. His girlfriend torpedoed the deal so he could have a way out.

I don't believe in any of Kaepernick's shite.

My earliest ancestors were Mississippi native Americans that migrated to Louisiana. Entire family been there since. As someone born and raised in the Deep South, this shite is confusing. Why do these people care so much about this goddamn flag?

Dude has never been anything but an extremely part-time driver in NASCAR's third-level series and has never led a lap.

This is such a non-story. Way for dude to earn some clout at the local dirt track.

But the MSBaws ate that shite up anyway. Cucks.

[link=(NASCAR Talk: Bubba Wallace on 'Today' show: 'We want to change. It starts with us' https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/06/11/bubba-wallace-applauds-nascar-ban-on-confederate-flag-at-races/)]NBCSN article[/link]

Bubba responds:
quote:

“I seen that comment and I was kind of baffled by it, honestly,” Wallace said. “I think he just solidified his career and no longer being part of NASCAR. “I would encourage NASCAR to really step up and look at that if he tries to reinstate. I seen a comment where to most, (the Confederate flag is) a sign of heritage. But to a large group of people, it’s a sign of hate and oppression and just a lot of negative and bad things that come to mind. “We’re not saying you can’t fly it at your house. You can do whatever you want. But when it comes to a sporting event where we want all races, everybody to be included – inclusion is what we’re trying to accomplish here. “Unity, bring everybody together and enjoy a sporting event and cheer on your favorite driver, not be shy and introverted because they see a Confederate flag flying. They should be able to live life to the fullest with nothing holding them back. “And if the flag is holding them back, then let’s just take it down for the sporting event. We’re not saying get rid of it out of your life completely.”

Evidently the American flag is not about unity.
